WARRENSBURG, Mo. – No. 4 Central Missouri Mules baseball's offense exploded for four runs in the first, two in the second, one in the fourth and sixth, while plating five in the seventh as they take the series final over the Griffons 13-3 (7 inn.), on Sunday, March 8, from Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field in Warrensburg.
Chase Wilcox went 4-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored, including the walk-off winner in the seventh.
Cole Kreisel was 3-for-3 with five runs scored and an RBI, while
Grant Hollister,
Brock Kobel, and
Drew Veatch all went 2-for-4 on the afternoon.
Redshirt freshman
Evan Vienhage had a pinch-hit grand slam in the bottom of the seventh, plating four RBI for good measure.
For the game, Central Missouri (17-3, 8-1 MIAA) outhit Missouri Western, 17-6, as
Sawyer Allen (2-0) earned his second win of the season, allowing three runs on six hits, while striking out four Griffon batters in five innings of work.
Kasey Crawford was the lone arm out of the Mules' bullpen today as the junior tossed two scoreless innings and had one punch out in the winning effort.
The Mules continue MIAA play on Tuesday, March 10, as they take on the Washburn Ichabods (8-11, 5-2 MIAA) with first pitch slated for 3:00 p.m. from Falley Field at Steve Anson Stadium in Topeka, Kan.
