Jennies Softball Drops Both of Doubleheader with Nova Southeastern

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Central Missouri Jennies (14-6, 0-0 MIAA) dropped a pair of games against the Nova Southeastern Sharks (13-11, 1-5 SSC), by a final scores of 7-5 and 8-4, on Saturday, March 7, from NSU Softball Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
 
Central Missouri begins MIAA play on Friday, March 13, as they host the Fort Hays State Tigers (9-8, 0-0 MIAA), during the Ribbon Cutting / Alumni Weekend, with first pitch of game one slated for 2:00 p.m. from Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg.
 
 
Game 1: Nova Southeastern 7, Central Missouri 5
The Sharks jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings of play, but Central Missouri responded with three runs in the top of the third thanks to a three-run shot off the bat of Taylor Thompson that scored Kyrsten Moran and Cydney Fullerton.
 
The Jens cut it to a one-run game in the fourth, with an RBI triple from Moran that scored Jadyn Sheffield, but NSU answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning, making it 7-4.
 
UCM trimmed the lead to a pair with an infield RBI single from Emma McCall that plated Lexi Blackmon, but was unable to complete the comeback as Bailey Brumley (2-2) suffered the loss in the circle, while Moran and Blackmon paced the Jens offensively with three hits each.
 
 
Game 2: Nova Southeastern 8, Central Missouri 4
The Sharks opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first, but Central Missouri cut the lead in half in the ensuing half inning, thanks to a fielder's choice RBI off the bat of Taylor Kvale that scored Aly Hageman.
 
With two on and two out in the third, Madelyn Ducheneaux gave the Jens a 3-2 lead with an RBI single, but Nova Southeastern responded with five runs in the bottom of the fifth, taking a 7-3 lead.
 
The Jens trimmed the lead to three with a solo shot from Marisa Johnson in the sixth, but were unable to make the comeback as Karman Rowe (2-1) suffered the loss in the circle, while Hageman paced the offense with three hits in the ballgame.
