Reese Schaaf Reaches 1,000-Point Milestone as Jennies Basketball Takes Down Washburn, 64-58

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Reese Schaaf became the 32nd student-athlete in program history to score at least 1,000 career points as University of Central Missouri Jennies Basketball took down the Washburn Ichabods, 64-58, in front of 1,275 spectators inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center on Saturday, Feb. 7.

The Jennies (17-5, 11-2 MIAA), who have now won five straight games, are scheduled to host Northeastern State (16-6, 8-5 MIAA) in Warrensburg on Thursday, Feb. 12, at 5:30 p.m.

Schaaf, a senior guard/forward out of El Dorado Springs, Mo., converted a layup with 49 seconds to go in the first quarter to surpass the 1,000-career point threshold at Central Missouri.

Central Missouri never trailed en route to the six-point victory.

Schaaf went 6-of-17 from the field and 6-of-8 at the free-throw line for 18 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Taylor Weishaar tallied 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the field and a 2-for-3 performance from three-point range and was 2-of-4 at the free-throw line, while also snagging nine rebounds, and Hayden Heim compiled 10 points, rounding out the UCM leaders in the game.

For the game, the Jennies were 23-of-52 (44 percent) from the field, 7-of-18 (39 percent) from three-point range, and made 11 out of 16 free throws for 69 percent. Central Missouri outrebounded Washburn, 32-30.

Brooke Gomez scored 23 points, leading the Ichabods (15-7, 8-5 MIAA).
