No. 25 Mules Turn Back Bronchos Saturday in Edmond, 74-70

EDMOND, Okla. – Jevon Hill scored 28 points, Trinell Parker added a career-high 21 points, and Lazerek Houston tallied 13 points, leading No. 25-ranked Central Missouri Mules Basketball to a 74-70 victory over the Central Oklahoma Bronchos on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 21, inside Hamilton Field House.

The Mules (21-8, 12-5 MIAA) are scheduled to host Missouri Southern (15-10, 9-7 MIAA) on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 7:30 p.m. inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg.

UCM built a 19-point lead early in the second half before Central Oklahoma rallied late to cut Central Missouri's lead down to two points, 72-70, with 17 seconds to go. That was as close as the Broncho would get, however, as Kyran Tilley made two free throws with 16 seconds remaining, sealing the four-point victory.

Hill went 8-of-11 from the field, including shooting 8-of-10 from three-point range for 80 percent, and was 4-of-4 at the free-throw line for his game-best 28 points, and added a team-best seven rebounds. With his eight three-pointers, Hill upped his UCM total to 104, moving into second all-time in single-season three-pointers and passing former Mule Joe Young, who made 98 treys in 2008-09.

Parker was 9-of-12 from the field and 3-of-6 at the free-throw line for his career-best 21 points, while Houston compiled 13 points and dished out five assists, rounding out the Central Missouri leaders in the contest.

The Mules shot 50 percent from the field (24-of-48), 44 percent from three-point range (11-of-25), and were 15-of-21 at the free-throw line for 71 percent for the game.

Central Oklahoma (15-14, 8-9 MIAA) outrebounded UCM, 39-34, and bested the Mules in the paint, 36-26.

Matthew Willenborg scored 26 points and tallied 10 rebounds for the double-double, leading the Bronchos.
