KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Missouri Mules basketball guard
Lazerek Houston was named the MIAA Athlete of the Week for his play on the court this past week, announced by the conference office on Monday, Jan. 26.
Houston, a native of Lincoln, Neb., garnered the honor after compiling 65 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists over the course of two games at home against Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri.
In the 97-83 victory over the Griffons, Lazerek posted a game-high 31 points, five rebounds, and four assists, before following it up with a game-best 34 points, seven rebounds, a game-high six assists, and three steals against the Bearcats.
Houston leads the country with 165 field goals made, ranks third in points scored (447) and sixth in assists (111), averaging 21.4 points, 5.2 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game for good measure.
The Mules continue MIAA play with a pair of games on the road beginning Thursday, Jan. 29, as they take on the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers with tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m. inside the Health & Sports Center in Kearney, Neb.
