SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Central Missouri Jennies (2-0, 0-0 MIAA) swept a pair of matches against the Roosevelt Lakers (0-2, 0-0 GLIAC) and the Illinois-Springfield Prairie Stars (0-1, 0-0 GLVC) Friday, Sept. 5, in the opening day of the UIS Volleyball Tournament inside The Recreation and Athletic Center in Springfield.
The Jens conclude the UIS Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 6, when they take on the Quincy Hawks (2-0, 0-0 GLVC). First serve is scheduled for noon.
Match 1: Central Missouri 3, Roosevelt 0 (25-11, 25-10, 25-15)
After taking the opening set of the match by a final score of 25-11, highlighted by a 14-4 run, Central Missouri opened the second set on a 13-2 run en route to a 25-10 victory, taking a 2-0 match lead.
The Jens completed the sweep, winning by a final score of 25-15, highlighted by a match-best 18 digs from redshirt senior

Outside hitter/opposite
Emma Siron led the offense with a match-high nine kills, adding a career-high six blocks and five digs overall, while seniors
Rachel Ziesman (four blocks) and
Kayla Baer (match-best 23 assists and team-high two service aces) ended the match with seven kills each.
Match 2: Central Missouri 3, Illinois-Springfield 0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-14)
Highlighted by a 7-0 run in the opening stages of the first, Central Missouri earned a 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-16 victory with outside hitter
Maya Fergerson's (nine kills on 16 swings overall) third kill of the set.
After taking the second set of the match by a final score of 25-18, the Jens completed their second sweep of the day with a 25-14 win in the third. Siron, a native of Sedalia, Mo., led the way offensively with a match-high 10 kills, five digs, and a career and match-best three service aces for good measure.
Central Missouri outhit the Prairie Stars in the match by a margin of .267 to .057 on the night. Winkelmann, a native of Rhineland, Mo., paced the Jens defensively with a match-best 13 digs and four assists. UAFS transfer
