  • Central Missouri volleyball continues the 2025 season, hosting the Comfort Inn Invitational beginning Friday, Sept. 19, and continuing Saturday, Sept. 20, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg. The additional participating teams are the McKendree Bearcats and Missouri S&T Miners of the GLVC (Great Lakes Valley Conference), the Ouachita Baptist Tigers from the GAC (Great American Conference), and No. 9 Washburn Ichabods of the MIAA.
  • The Jens will take on the Tigers at 5:00 p.m., Friday night before contests against Missouri S&T (noon) and McKendree (5:00 p.m.) on Saturday, Sept. 20, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg.   
  • Central Missouri went 2-1 this past weekend, highlighted by a sweep of No. 13 Grand Valley State inside the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena, winning 25-15, 25-20, 26-24, on the opening day of the Hampton Inn & Suites Grand Rapids Downtown Classic in Allendale, Mich.
  • The Jens are receiving votes in the latest AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Poll after knocking off No. 13 Grand Valley State at home in the opening match of the Hampton Inn & Suites Grand Rapids Downtown Classic.

  • All matches of the Comfort Inn Invitational will be available on a pay-per-view basis through the MIAA Network. Coverage begins at noon on Friday and Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m., inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg.
 
Meet the Jens
  • Central Missouri returns 14 players from last year's squad while adding seven newcomers, including two transfers and four freshmen.
  • Setter Shelbi Wilson spent the previous two seasons playing for Hutchinson CC (Kan.) while redshirt junior Kaelyn McDonald transferred from MIAA foe Arkansas-Fort Smith.
  • Defensive specialist/libero Ragin Corwin (Blue Springs, Mo.), middle blocker Bria Dawson (Overland Park, Kan.), outside hitter Aspen Nelsen (Indianola, Iowa), and outside hitter Sammy Klotz (Hoyt, Kan.) are entering their first season of collegiate volleyball.  
 
Series History
  • Ouachita Baptist: Friday marks the fourth meeting all-time between the Tigers and Central Missouri on the volleyball court, with the Jens winning all three previous contests. The latest matchup was during the 2007 HSU-OBU Classic, with the Jens sweeping OBU 30-18, 30-10, 30-25, in Arkadelphia, Ark.  
  • Missouri S&T: Saturday afternoon's match will be just the 10th all-time meeting between UCM and the Miners as the Jens hold an 8-1 advantage. Missouri S&T defeated the Jens in their most recent matchup by a final score of 3-2 (25-17, 28-26, 19-25, 23-25, 12-15), on Saturday, Sept. 2, in the final match of the 2023 Courtyard by Marriott Tampa Volleyball Classic from the Bob Martinez Athletics Center in Tampa, Fla.          
  • McKendree: Saturday night's contest will be the second all-time meeting between the Bearcats and Central Missouri. The Jens swept the previous matchup, winning 25-13,25-14,25-15 during the 2013 Peggy Martin Challenge, on Sept. 13, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletic Center in Warrensburg.
 
Jens By the Numbers
  • Central Missouri is averaging 14.9 digs, 12.6 kills, 11.1 assists, 2.1 blocks, and 1.4 service aces per set through six matches this season. 
  • Middle blocker Kaelyn McDonald's 18 total blocks and 0.95 blocks per set lead UCM defensively in the front row while posting 47 points, 34 kills, and nine digs. McDonald has posted five or more kills in five matches this season, highlighted by back-to-back nine-kill outings against Hillsdale (Sept. 12) and Findlay (Sept. 13) during the Comfort Inn & Suites Grand Rapids Downtown Classic.  
  • Redshirt sophomore Emma Siron leads the team with 77 points, 61 kills, and 12 service aces, averaging 2.77 kills per set. After being sidelined last season due to injury, the Sedalia, Mo. native has recorded nine or more kills in four matches this season, including a season-best 19 on 45 swings (.311 attack percentage) against Findlay (Sept. 13).
  • Libero Grace Winkelmann leads the Jens defensively in the back row with 108 digs, averaging 4.91 digs per set, adding 14 assists and a .977 reception percentage in 43 attempts. The Rhineland, Mo. native has collected 1,492 career digs coming into play Friday.  
  • Wesley Chapel, Fla. native Kayla Baer leads the team with 220 assists, averaging 10 assists per set through six games this season. The senior has added 48 digs, 20 kills, six blocks, and three service aces while being one of three Jens to start all six matches and one of four players to appear in all 22 sets in 2025. Baer has recorded back-to-back double-double performances for Central Missouri with 51 assists and 12 digs against Hillsdale (Sept. 12), plus 46 assists and 12 digs against Findlay (Sept. 13).
  • Senior Rachel Ziesman ranks second on the team with 60.5 points, 51 kills, and 17 blocks overall, while being one of three Jens to appear in all 22 sets and start all six matches in 2025. The Shawnee, Kan. native, had a season-best eight blocks against Findlay (Sept. 13), while recording a season-high 12 kills on 26 attempts (.423 hitting percentage) in the win against Hillsdale (Sept. 12).
 
UCM in the Polls
  • The Jens are receiving votes in the latest AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Poll after knocking off No. 13 Grand Valley State (Sept. 12) at home in the opening match of the Hampton Inn & Suites Grand Rapids Downtown Classic.
  • UCM is one of five MIAA teams to be recognized in this week's poll, alongside No. 2 Central Oklahoma, No. 5 Nebraska Kearney, No. 9 Washburn, and No. 21 Missouri Western.
 
UCM in the Postseason
  • The Jens made their 37th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history in 2023 and the first under head coach Caitlin Peterson, as the Jens have a 41-41 overall record, including eight NCAA Regional Championships.
