SCENE SETTER
  • University of Central Missouri Mules Football (0-2, 0-0 MIAA) is slated to open MIAA play with a road game at Missouri Western State University (1-1, 0-0 MIAA) on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 6 p.m. in St. Joseph, Mo., at Craig Field at Spratt Memorial Stadium.
  • UCM is coming off a 29-24 setback to then No. 13-ranked Colorado State Pueblo on Thursday, Sept. 11, at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field in Warrensburg.
  • In the Mules' contest vs. CSU Pueblo, wide receiver Jack Pospisil set a new UCM single-game receiving yards record with 252 yards on 12 catches, breaking the previous record by 20 yards.
  • The Mules went 9-3 overall and finished tied for third in the MIAA at 6-3 last season in 2024. UCM advanced to the postseason for a second straight season, defeating the University of Texas Permian Basin, 39-37 in double overtime, in the Heritage Bowl Powered by RIOT on December 7 in Corsicana, Texas.
  • With Central Missouri's 9-3 record in 2024 and 11-2 mark in 2023, the Mules posted at least 20 wins in two consecutive seasons for just the second time in program history.
  • UCM welcomes back 11 starters from last season's team including All-MIAA selections Jack Pospisil (WR), Hogan Wasson (WR), LaAngelo Bell (RB) and Austin Bressler (LB), in addition to Talon Sanders (DB), Michael Harris (DL), Isaac Montgomery (LB), Drew Kaufman (LB), Garrett Hormann (LB), Ethan Brown (P) and JT Miller (K).
  • 2025 will be the 129th season in the history of Mules Football. UCM has played football every year since 1895, except for 1918 due to World War I.
  • Central Missouri was voted fourth in both the 2025 MIAA Preseason Coaches and Media Polls released in late July by the conference office.

  • Jack Pospisil was voted the MIAA Football Offensive Athlete of the Week for his performance on the field during the week of Sept. 8-14.
  • Pospisil shattered the Mules Football single-game receiving yards record after tallying a career-best 252 yards on 12 catches, including a touchdown reception, in UCM's 29-24 setback to then No. 13-ranked Colorado State Pueblo Thursday, Sept. 11, at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field in Warrensburg.
  • The previous single-game record for receiving yards was set by former Mule Zach Patterson last season when he tallied 232 yards on 10 catches in Central Missouri's game at Fort Hays State Oct. 5.
NEW FACES
  • Mules Football welcomes 58 new student-athletes to their roster in 2025, including 36 high school freshmen and 22 transfers.
  • In addition, UCM has seven new coaches for the 2025 season. New coaches include: Rich Wright (Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Line), Neil Novak (Special Teams Coordinator/Defensive Backs), Vince Mayle (Wide Receivers), Jamal Morrow (Running Backs/Offensive Player Personnel), Dylan Graham (Tight Ends/Offensive Player Personnel), JaQuan Jenkins (Assistant Defensive Secondary) and Billy Musgrave (Assistant Defensive Line).
SERIES HISTORY
  • Saturday's game against the Griffons will mark the 41st meeting in the all-time series dating back to 1975. The Mules hold a slim 20-19-1. Last season, UCM fell to MoWest in Warrensburg, 38-28, on Oct. 12.
 LAST TIME OUT: MULES FOOTBALL DROPS HOME OPENER TO NO. 13 COLORADO STATE PUEBLO, 29-24
  • University of Central Missouri Mules Football suffered a 29-24 loss to the No. 13-ranked Colorado State Pueblo Thunderwolves in the annual Get the Red Out game and 2025 home opener on Thursday, Sept. 11, at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field.
  • Central Missouri led 17-10 at halftime before CSU Pueblo outscored UCM in the second half, 19-7, to rally for the five-point victory.
  • Jack Pospisil had 12 catches for a career-high and Mules Football single-game record 252 receiving yards, including a touchdown, while fellow wide receiver Hogan Wasson also eclipsed 100 receiving yards in the contest, posting a career-best 128 yards on 12 catches.
  • UCM quarterback Donovyn Omolo went 22-for-42 for 263 passing yards but had three interceptions while also adding a team-high 103 rushing yards on 15 carries. Fellow quarterback Jordan Pachot entered the game in the second half and went 11-for-20 for 160 yards with a touchdown.
  • Running back Keyon Butler added a touchdown, rounding out the UCM offensive leaders for the game.
  • Garrett Hormann posted 13 tackles, Drew Kaufman added 11 tackles, including 2.5 tackles-for-loss for six yards, Kyan Franklin, Michael Harris, and Jayden Rauls each had quarterback sacks, Talon Sanders tallied three pass breakups, and Isaac Greer and Brennan Schneider added fumble recoveries, pacing the Central Missouri defense.
  • For the game, the Mules outgained the Thunderwolves (2-1), 536-373, including a 439-250 advantage in passing yards. Colorado State Pueblo did best UCM on the ground, compiling a 123-97 rushing advantage.
  • The Mules had 25 first downs compared to 22 for CSU Pueblo, but lost the time of possession battle, 31:30 to 28:30.
  • Colorado State Pueblo quarterback Roman Fuller was 16-for-38 for 250 yards with two touchdowns, while Dedrek Taylor-Akins had 170 receiving yards on seven catches, leading CSU Pueblo.

  • The Mules are 265-189-13 overall and 2025 is their 93rd season playing home games at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field.
  • Under Josh Lamberson, Central Missouri is 14-4 at home.

  • In the 129 seasons of UCM Football the Mules have compiled a 604-540-51 record. Central Missouri has fielded a football team every year since 1895, except for 1918, when World War I occurred.

  • UCM tied the program-record for wins in a season with 11 in 2023. The Mules also won 11 games in 2019 and 2010.
