ALLENDALE, Mich. – Mikayla Ernst netted a brace with two goals and
Kristen Wright tallied six saves to help No. 17-ranked Central Missouri Jennies Soccer to a 2-0, shutout win over the No. 12-ranked Ashland Eagles on Friday, Sept. 12, at the GVSU Soccer Field on the Grand Valley State University campus.
The Jennies (1-1-1) will face No. 4-ranked Grand Valley State (2-0-0) on Sunday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m. CT (noon ET) in Allendale.
Ernst, a junior forward from Raymore, Mo., scored her first goal of the match, which turned out to be the game-winner, in the 26th minute via an assist from
Izzy Joyce, slotting Joyce's pass into the lower, left corner of the goal.
She completed the brace and doubled the UCM lead in the 64th minute, netting her second goal of the contest on a shot from the center of the box into the lower, right corner of the goal.
For the match, Ashland (1-2-0) outshot the Jennies, 21-5, but they only managed six shots on goal, while all five of Central Missouri's shots were on target. The Eagles also posted an 11-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Wright improved to 1-1-1 in goal in 2025 and earned her second shutout of the season after allowing no goals while making six saves in 90 minutes.
Emily Pate and Dani Hicks each had two shots on goal, leading Ashland offensively.
Eagle goalkeeper Jaya Daniel (1-2-0) took the loss between the posts, surrendering two goals while compiling three saves in 90 minutes.
