TOPEKA, Kan. – The Central Missouri Jennies (20-14, 7-7 MIAA) split a pair of games with the Washburn Ichabods (25-16, 7-7 MIAA) winning game one by a final score of 10-8 (8 inn.) Sunday, April 6, from Gahnstrom Field in Topeka, Kan.

The Jens continue MIAA play on Monday, April 7, as they take on the Emporia State Hornets (25-14, 6-7 MIAA) for a doubleheader with game one beginning at noon from Turnbull Field in Emporia, Kan.

Game 1: Central Missouri 10, Washburn 8 (8 inn.)
After falling behind 3-0 after one inning of play, Central Missouri cut into the Ichabod lead with a pair of runs in the second with an RBI triple off the bat of Aly Hageman followed by an RBI single from Emma McCall.

Washburn responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning taking a 5-2 lead, but the Jens brought it back to a one-run game in the fifth beginning with a Marisa Johnson RBI single before Carly Youngblood scored on a wild pitch making it 5-4.

Central Missouri's Jadyn Sheffield tied the game in the top of the sixth with an RBI single, but the Ichabods regained the lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning. The Jens responded in the seventh scoring their second run of the game off a wild pitch before tying the ballgame with an RBI sacrifice fly off the bat of Breanna Newton.

With two on and one out in the top of the eighth, Johnson cleared the bases with her fourth dinger of the season to left center field as Andi Siebeneck earned her second save on the year in relief of Emily Brouse (6-3) who picked up the victory.

The Jens posted a season-high 17 hits in the ballgame including six players with multi-hit performances highlighted by Johnson (game-high four RBI and three runs scored) and Hageman who collected three hits each for good measure.

Game 2: Washburn 10, Central Missouri 8
UCM opened the scoring with a four-run top of the first thanks to back-to-back RBI singles from Johnson (scoring Bailey Brumley and Sheffield) and Hageman (Morgan Shields and Johnson), but the Ichabods responded with 11 unanswered runs.

Taylor Thompson led off the fifth inning with her team-leading fifth home run of 2025 before a McCall sacrifice fly made it 11-6. After a Teelie Super RBI single made it a four-run ballgame, Lexi Blackmon plated two runs with an RBI double to left center before Sheffield cut the lead to one with a sacrifice fly.

Washburn plated a run in the bottom of the sixth and never relinquished as Siebeneck (5-5) suffered the loss in the circle while Blackmon paced the Jens offensively going 2-for-5 with one run scored for good measure.
