No. 3 Mules Baseball Sweeps Friday Doubleheader at Missouri Southern, 15-12 and 18-2

JOPLIN, Mo. – No. 3-ranked Central Missouri Mules baseball completed a three-game MIAA series sweep of Missouri Southern with a doubleheader sweep of the Lions Friday afternoon, April 18, at Warren Turner Field, winning game one, 15-12 before rolling to an 18-2, seven-inning victory in game two.

The Mules (32-9, 23-6 MIAA) are scheduled to host the Washburn Ichabods (22-22, 15-16 MIAA) in a midweek conference contest Wednesday, April 23, at 4 p.m. at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field in Warrensburg.

Central Missouri used the long ball to score a combined 33 runs Friday, belting 11 home runs in the doubleheader (five in game one and six in game two).

Including UCM's game one victory Thursday, the Mules scored 44 runs and hit 16 homers in the three-game series.

In Central Missouri's 15-12 game one triumph, UCM trailed 10-9 before scoring five runs in the top of the sixth inning to gain the lead for the remainder of the game.

Isaiah Keller went 2-for-5 with two home runs and six RBI while Grant Hollister was 2-for-5 with his second homer of the season, going along with three RBI, Dayvin Johnson was 2-for-5 with a double and two runs batted in, Cole Kreisel was 2-for-3 with his third homer of 2025 and three runs, Cody Moore was 2-for-4 with his third home run of the season and two RBI, Vance Tobol was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, and Will Krzykowski was 2-for-5, leading UCM at the plate in game one.

Tobol's first hit of the game – a single to left field in the fourth inning – was the 200th hit of his Central Missouri career.

UCM reliever Jake Wilson (4-0) earned the win on the mound in game one, allowing three earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts and two walks in three innings while fellow reliever Sam Wyrick picked up his third save of 2025 after throwing a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning with one strikeout and one walk.

In the Mules' 18-2, run-rule victory in the series finale, Central Missouri raced out to a 10-1 lead after the fourth inning and never looked back enroute to the win.

Keller went 3-for-5 with two homers, three runs and five RBI, giving him four homers on the day and upping his season total to 10. Jacob Steele went 3-for-4 with two homers, six RBI and three runs, raising his season home run tally to eight, Johnson was 3-for-5 with his 11th home run of 2025, three runs and three RBI, Tobol was 3-for-5 with his team-best 16 home run of the season, two runs and three RBI, Hollister was 2-for-3 with two runs and a double, and Kaleb Ceola was 2-for-4 with a run, pacing UCM in the batter's box in game two.

Central Missouri starting pitcher Jack Scott (4-1) earned the win on the rubber in game two, giving up two earned runs on eight hits with six strikeouts and one walk in five innings.
