WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Central Missouri Jennies (27-17, 12-10 MIAA) split a pair of games with No. 5 Central Oklahoma Bronchos (40-7, 17-3 MIAA) winning game one by a final score of 3-2 Thursday, April 17, from Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex.
The Jens continue MIAA play Friday, April 18, as they host the Newman Jets (7-37, 3-15 MIAA) for Senior Day with game one's first pitch slated for 1:00 p.m. from Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg.
Game 1: Central Missouri 3, No. 5 Central Oklahoma 2
The Bronchos had a 2-0 lead after two innings, but Central Missouri had runners on the corners with one out in the bottom of the third.
Beginning with a double steal that scored
Carly Youngblood from third, the Jens plated three runs total in the inning with two of them coming with two outs as
Bailey Brumley's RBI single scored
Lexi Blackmon before
Taylor Thompson's RBI double made it 3-2 UCM.
UCM never relinquished the lead thanks to a career-high 13 strikeouts from
Brooke Weimer who tossed her team-leading 15
th complete game of the season allowing one walk while seven Jens recorded a hit in the winning effort.
Game 2: No. 5 Central Oklahoma 6, Central Missouri 1
UCO plated five runs in the fifth inning and one in the seventh while the lone run of the ballgame for the Jens came thanks to an RBI single from
Marisa Johnson in the bottom of the seventh.
Emily Brouse (8-4) suffered the loss in the circle while Brumley paced UCM offensively going 2-for-3 scoring the lone run in the seventh for good measure.
