FORT SMITH, Ark. – Fourth-ranked Central Missouri Mules baseball wrapped up a three-game, MIAA series sweep of the Arkansas-Fort Smith Lions with a 14-4, seven-inning win in the series finale Sunday afternoon, March 9, at Crowder Field.
The Mules (14-3, 8-1 MIAA) are slated to face the Quincy Hawks (10-8, 3-1 GLVC) in a non-conference doubleheader Friday, March 14, in Quincy, Ill.
Central Missouri scored at least one run in all seven innings of Sunday's contest to roll to the 10-run triumph.
Vance Tobol went 3-for-4 with two runs, his team-best seventh home run of the season, a double and three RBI while
Dayvin Johnson was 2-for-3 with a run and two RBI, and
Cole Kreisel was 2-for-4 with a run and three RBI, pacing UCM at the plate in the contest.
Jacob Steele added three runs,
Isaiah Keller had two runs, and
Chase Heath posted two runs and a double, respectively.
Central Missouri right-handed starting pitcher
Jack Scott (1-1) earned the victory on the mound, allowing no earned runs on two hits with seven strikeouts and just two walks in 4 1/3 innings of work. Â
Nico Patrick was 2-for-3 with a double, run and two RBI, leading Arkansas-Fort Smith (7-12, 2-7 MIAA) offensively in the game.
UAFS starter Aden Almeida (1-1) suffered the setback on the rubber, surrendering six runs – five earned – on five hits with four walks and two strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings.
