QUINCY, Ill. – Third-ranked Central Missouri Mules baseball scored 24 runs in a doubleheader sweep of the Quincy Hawks at QU Stadium on a windy Friday, March 14, winning game one, 15-12, and game two, 9-6.
The Mules (16-3) are slated to face No. 18-ranked Davenport (11-4) in a doubleheader at noon Saturday, March 15, in Quincy, Ill.
In Central Missouri's 15-12 game one triumph over the Hawks (10-10), the Mules outhit Quincy, 18-11, on its way to the win.
Dayvin Johnson went a career-best 5-for-6 with a double, three runs and three RBI,
Jacob Steele was 3-for-4 with a double, run and RBI,
Isaiah Keller was 3-for-5 with an RBI,
Grant Hollister was 2-for-4 with a double, run, and two RBI,
Vance Tobol was 2-for-5 with three runs, a home run, and three RBI, and freshman
Cole Kreisel hit his first-career homer, pacing the Mules at the plate in the first contest.
Central Missouri reliever
Jake Wilson (2-0) earned the game one victory on the mound, surrendering two unearned runs on one hit with five strikeouts and one walk in three innings out of the bullpen.
UCM trailed 10-9 before outscoring Quincy, 6-2, in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings to secure the comeback victory.
In the Mules' 9-6 triumph in the nightcap, Central Missouri scored two runs in the top of the first inning on Tobol's team-best ninth home run of the season and led the rest of the way enroute to the win.
Chase Wilcox went 2-for-5 and drove in a run, Keller was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI, Hollister scored three runs, Tobol tallied a pair of RBI on his round-tripper, and
Cody Moore added a double and RBI, leading UCM offensively in the second game.
Right-handed reliever
JD McReynolds (3-0) picked up the victory on the rubber, allowing no earned runs on just one hit with four strikeouts and zero walks in 2 1/3 innings while left-hander
Chris Massey earned his first save of 2025 after throwing three scoreless and hitless innings with five strikeouts and just one walk on 38 pitches.
For the doubleheader, Central Missouri outscored Quincy, 24-18, and outhit the Hawks, 28-19. The Mules and Hawks combined for nine home runs in the two contests.Â
