Jennies Softball Splits Doubleheader at No. 8 Rogers State Saturday

CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Central Missouri Jennies (19-13, 6-6 MIAA) split a pair of games with No. 8 Rogers State Hillcats (25-10, 9-7 MIAA) winning game two by a final score of 5-2 Saturday, March 29, from RBC Bank Sports Park in Claremore, Okla.

The Jens continue MIAA play on Friday, April 4, as they take on the Washburn Ichabods (24-15, 6-6 MIAA) for a doubleheader with game one beginning at 4:00 p.m. from Gahnstrom Field in Topeka, Kan.

Game 1: No. 8 Rogers State 3, Central Missouri 1
The Hillcats opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first before adding another in the second taking a 3-0 lead. Designated player Taylor Thompson led off the fourth with a solo shot to left field (her fourth on the year), but UCM was unable to complete the comeback.

Sophomore Brooke Weimer (8-6) suffered the loss in the circle while Thompson and Brumley collected the lone hits of the ballgame for the Jens.

Game 2: Central Missouri 5, No. 8 Rogers State 2
Central Missouri struck first with a pair of runs in the opening frame of the doubleheader finale with RBI singles off the bats of Thompson and Marisa Johnson before making it 3-0 in the second with thanks to a RBI fielder's choice from Jadyn Sheffield (scoring Carly Youngblood).

The home team cut the lead to a single run in the bottom of the fifth, but the Jens quickly responded in the top of the sixth with a two-run shot from Emma McCall (her first collegiate round tripper) and never relinquished en route to their 19th win of the season.

Andi Siebeneck (5-4) earned the victory in the circle allowing just four hits over six innings of work while Lexi Blackmon (one run scored), McCall (one run scored), and Marisa Johnson recorded two hits each pacing UCM offensively.
