BENTONVILLE, Ark. – University of Central Missouri Jennies softball opened its 2025 season with a two-game split in the Alvy Early Memorial Classic Friday, Feb. 7, in Bentonville, Ark., winning its season opener against Illinois-Springfield, 9-7, before dropping game two against Southern Arkansas, 5-0.
In UCM's 9-7 victory over the Illinois-Springfield Prairie Stars (3-3), the Jennies scored a run in the second inning, added three in the fourth, two in the fifth and three in the sixth to post the win.
Aly Hageman went 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored,
Andi Siebeneck went 1-for-3 with her first homer of the season – a solo shot in the second inning – and scored two runs, and
Bailey Brumley was 1-for-3 with an RBI, pacing the Jennies offensively in game one.
In the Jennies 5-0 setback in game two against Southern Arkansas (5-2), the Muleriders plated two runs each in the second and fifth innings and one in the sixth while keeping UCM off the scoreboard for the shutout win.
Lexi Blackmon went 2-for-4 while
Jadyn Sheffield,
Breanna Newton and Morgan Sheilds each tallied a hit to pace Central Missouri at the plate in game two.
The Jennies (1-1) are slated to wrap up play in Bentonville with game against William Jewell at 11 a.m. and Harding at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8.
