Jennies Basketball Earns Road Win at Northeastern State Thursday, 70-59

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Five players scored in double figures as Central Missouri Jennies basketball picked up a MIAA road win, 70-59, over the Northeastern State RiverHawks Thursday, Feb. 13, inside the NSU Event Center.

The Jennies (14-11, 6-8 MIAA) are scheduled to travel to Fort Smith, Ark., for a conference contest against MIAA newcomer Arkansas-Fort Smith (14-9, 8-6 MIAA) Saturday, Feb. 15, at 1 p.m.

Allie Clevenger posted 16 points and went a perfect 8-of-8 at the free-throw line, while Reese Schaaf, Cierra Smith and Lauren Frost all had 12 points, and Rylee Vierthaler tallied a career-best 10 points, pacing the Jennies in the victory. Schaaf added a team-best nine rebounds, Frost dished out a team-high seven assists, and Taylor Weishaar chipped in a team-best five blocks to go along with eight points, respectively.

UCM led by just three points, 48-45, at the end of the third quarter before outscoring the RiverHawks (10-13, 6-8 MIAA), 22-14, in the fourth quarter to post the 11-point win.

For the game, Central Missouri shot 51 percent from the field (25-of-49), 31 percent from three-point range (5-of-16) and were 15-of-18 at the free-throw line for 83 percent. Northeastern State outrebounded UCM, 39-33, but the Jennies outscored the RiverHawks in the paint, 28-14, and off turnovers, 18-15.

Courtney Lee (13 points) and Annaston Brown (12 points) led Northeastern State in the contest.
