Jennies Volleyball Sweeps Northwest Missouri Saturday

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The (Receiving Votes) Central Missouri Jennies (18-7, 9-5 MIAA) swept the Northwest Missouri Bearcats (9-14, 3-11 MIAA) winning 25-16, 26-24, 25-11 Saturday, Nov. 8, from Dr. Peggy Martin Court, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg.     
 
After taking the opening set highlighted by four kills on eight swings (.375 hitting percentage) from senior Rachel Ziesman (six kills and five blocks overall), the Jens doubled their advantage in the second set with a kill by Sedalia, Mo. native Emma Siron.
 
Siron ended the night with her 10th double-double of the season with a match-high 13 kills on 26 swings (.385 hitting percentage), adding 10 digs for good measure. Central Missouri completed its 11th sweep of the season with a 25-11 victory in the third, ending the match on a 7-1 run with three kills from Kaelyn McDonald.
 
McDonald, a native of Lee's Summit, Mo., ended the match with 10 kills on 14 swings (.643 attack percentage), while outside hitter Shaye Koski had seven kills and three digs, plus juniors Lauren Blake and Maya Fergerson had three kills each in the winning effort.
 
Defensively, the Jens were led in the back row by libero Grace Winkelmann's match-best 16 digs, adding four assists and two aces, while Owasso, Okla. native Kirsten Harper collected eight digs, a career-high two assists, and a career-best two aces.
 
Senior Kayla Baer recorded her ninth double-double of the year with a match-high 36 assists, adding 10 digs, four blocks, and four kills on seven swings (.571 hitting percentage) while Blue Springs, Mo. native Ragin Corwin collected seven digs and a career-best two aces in the winning effort.
 
Central Missouri continues MIAA play Friday, Nov. 14, as they travel to Wichita, Kan., for a matchup with the Newman Jets (3-22, 1-13 MIAA), beginning at 6:00 p.m., inside Fugate Gymnasium.
