Jennies Volleyball Sweeps Newman Friday

WICHITA, Kan. – The (Receiving Votes) Central Missouri Jennies (19-7, 10-5 MIAA) swept the Newman Jets (3-24, 1-15 MIAA), winning 25-19, 25-12, 25-15, Friday, Nov. 14, inside Fugate Gymnasium in Wichita.     
 
Central Missouri took the opening set 25-19, with four kills each from Rachel Ziesman (11 kills and three blocks overall) and Shaye Koski (match-high 12 kills and two digs overall), before starting the second frame on a 7-2 run en route to doubling their match advantage.
 
The Jens completed their 12th sweep of the season with a 25-15 victory in the third as Central Missouri outhit the Jets by a margin of .333 to .082 on the night, as freshman Bria Dawson had seven kills on 13 swings (.538 hitting percentage), adding four blocks in the winning effort.
 
Defensively, the Jens were led in the back row by libero Grace Winkelmann's match-high 18 digs, plus Owasso, Okla. native Kirsten Harper and setter Kayla Baer (match-high 38 assists and five kills) collected seven digs each.
 
Redshirt sophomore Emma Siron had five kills and four digs on the night, while defensive specialist Ragin Corwin had five digs.
 
Sophomore Grace Wagers and Hoyt, Kan., native Sammy Klotz recorded two kills each, while opposite Lauren Blake had two blocks in the winning effort.
 
Central Missouri concludes MIAA regular play Saturday, Nov. 15, as they host the Pittsburg State Gorillas (13-13, 6-9 MIAA), for Club Day / Senior Day beginning at 2:00 p.m., from Dr. Peggy Martin Court, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg.
