WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The University of Central Missouri women's basketball team outscored the Evangel Valor in the third and fourth quarters, 43-25, to turn a 44-40 halftime deficit into an 83-69 victory on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 29, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center.
The Jennies (4-2) are scheduled to open MIAA play by hosting No. 4 Fort Hays State (6-0) on Thursday, Dec. 4, at 5:30 p.m. in Warrensburg.
Taylor Weishaar netted 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field, including a 1-of-3 showing from three-point range, and a flawless 7-of-7 mark at the free-throw line, while
Cierra Smith added 17 points.
Hayden Heim chipped in 12 points,
Neely Schaaf added 10 points, and
Reese Schaaf snagged a game-high 11 rebounds, rounding out the UCM leaders in the contest.
For the game, the Jennies shot 55 percent from the field (30-of-55), 46 percent from three-point range (6-of-13), and were 17 out of 21 at the free-throw line for 81 percent. Central Missouri outrebounded Evangel, 44-38, and outscored the Valor in the paint, 44-40.
Lydia Babirye (16 points) and Cassidy Hamilton (15 points) paced Evangel (6-1) in the game.
