  • Central Missouri volleyball continues MIAA play with a trio of matches, beginning Tuesday, Oct. 7, as they host the Missouri Southern Lions, with first serve beginning at 6:00 p.m. during Cancer Awareness Night / Pink Out Match, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg.
  • The Jens hit the road for a matchup with the Pittsburg State Gorillas, Friday, Oct. 10, beginning at 5:00 p.m. inside John Lance Arena in Pittsburg, Kan., before concluding the week hosting the Newman Jets on Saturday, Oct. 11, for Mental Health Awareness Night with first serve in Warrensburg slated for 7:00 p.m.
  • UCM swept the MIAA Volleyball Athlete of the Week honors for week five, as middle blocker Rachel Ziesman was named Offensive Player of the Week, redshirt junior Kaelyn McDonald was tabbed Defensive Athlete of the Week, and Wesley Chapel, Fla. native Kayla Baer earned Setter of the Week honors.
  • The Jens went 3-0 last week, beginning with a thrilling five-set victory over Rockhurst in Warrensburg, before winning a pair of 3-1 matches over Arkansas-Fort Smith and previously un-beaten No. 1 Central Oklahoma on the road.
  • Saturday's victory over the top-ranked Bronchos, was the first road top-five victory for the Jens since defeating No. 2 Washburn inside Lee Arena in October of 2021.

How to Watch
  • All three matches will be available on a pay-per-view basis through the MIAA Network. Coverage begins Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg.
  • Friday's coverage inside John Lance Arena begins at 5:00 p.m. from Pittsburg, Kan., before Saturday night's match with the Jets begins at 7:00 p.m. in Warrensburg.  
 
Meet the Jens
  • Central Missouri returns 14 players from last year's squad while adding six newcomers, including two transfers and four freshmen.
  • Setter Shelbi Wilson spent the previous two seasons playing for Hutchinson CC (Kan.) while redshirt junior Kaelyn McDonald transferred from MIAA foe Arkansas-Fort Smith.
  • Defensive specialist/libero Ragin Corwin (Blue Springs, Mo.), middle blocker Bria Dawson (Overland Park, Kan.), outside hitter Aspen Nelsen (Indianola, Iowa), and outside hitter Sammy Klotz (Hoyt, Kan.) are entering their first season of collegiate volleyball.  
 
Series History
  • Missouri Southern: Heading into Tuesday night's match with the Lions, Central Missouri holds a 78-2-1 record all-time against Missouri Southern, including a 33-0 mark in Warrensburg. In their matchup a season ago from Dr. Peggy Martin Court, the Jens defeated MSSU by a final score of 3-1 (17-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-19).
  • Pittsburg State: Friday marks the 81st meeting all-time between the Gorillas and Central Missouri, with UCM leading the series 72-7-1, including 26-3 in Pittsburg. A season ago inside John Lance Arena, PSU defeated the Jens 3-1 (26-28, 25-23, 17-25, 18-25).  
  • Newman: Saturday night's match will be the 16th all-time meeting between UCM and the Jets as the Jens are 15-0 in the series. Last season, Central Missouri won both matches, including a sweep of the NU in Warrensburg.  
 
Jens By the Numbers
  • Central Missouri is averaging 16.8 digs, 13.9 kills, 12.8 assists, 2.3 blocks, and 1.5 service aces per set through 14 matches this season. 
  • Senior Rachel Ziesman leads the team with 52 blocks overall, averaging 1.04 blocks per set while being one of four Jens to appear in 50 or more sets and start all 14 matches in 2025. The Shawnee, Kan. native, was named the MIAA Offensive Athlete of the Week after recording 41 kills on 93 swings (.344 attack percentage), adding 10 total blocks, and five digs in three matches. In the road victory at No. 1 Central Oklahoma, the middle blocker had a team-high 16 kills on 34 attempts (.382 hitting percentage), adding four blocks and two digs.
  • Middle blocker Kaelyn McDonald's 51 total blocks are second for UCM defensively in the front row while posting 156 points, 119 kills, and 32 digs. McDonald was named the MIAA Defensive Athlete of the Week after posting 16 total blocks, including two solo blocks, adding 44 kills on 82 swings (.415 hitting percentage), and 10 digs in three matches.  In the winning effort at No. 1 Central Oklahoma, the redshirt junior re-set her career-high mark of 16 kills on 28 swings (.500 hitting percentage), adding six total blocks, including two solo blocks for good measure.
  • Wesley Chapel, Fla. native Kayla Baer leads the team with 540 assists, averaging 10.38 assists per set through 14 matches this season. The senior was named MIAA Setter of the Week after contributing 153 assists, 29 digs, nine kills, and four total blocks through three matches. Baer had back-to-back 53-assist and nine-dig outings against the Hawks and UAFS before recording her fourth double-double performance of the season against No. 1 Central Oklahoma with a match-high 47 assists and 11 digs en route to surpassing 1,000 assists at UCM.
  • Redshirt sophomore Emma Siron leads the team with 181.5 points and 20 service aces, while adding a team-high 151 kills, averaging 2.9 kills per set. After being sidelined last season due to injury, the Sedalia, Mo. native has recorded nine or more kills in eight matches this season, including a season-best 19 on 45 swings (.311 attack percentage) against Findlay (Sept. 13).
  • Libero Grace Winkelmann leads the Jens defensively in the back row with 254 digs, averaging 4.88 digs per set, adding 39 assists and 12 service aces. The Rhineland, Mo. native has collected double-digit digs in 13 matches this season, including a match-high 31 against Ouachita Baptist (Sept. 19) en route to collecting her 1,500th career dig. The redshirt senior is in sole possession of seventh place in career digs with 1,638, and is 56 away from moving into sixth place all-time.    
 
UCM in the Polls
  • The Jens are ranked 24th in the latest AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Poll after going 3-0 this past week with victories over Rockhurst, Arkansas-Fort Smith, and No. 1 Central Oklahoma.   
  • UCM is one of six MIAA teams recognized in this week's poll, alongside No. 2 Nebraska Kearney, No. 4 Central Oklahoma, No. 9 Washburn, while Missouri Western and Emporia State are receiving votes.
 
UCM in the Postseason
  • The Jens made their 37th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history in 2023 and the first under head coach Caitlin Peterson, as the Jens have a 41-41 overall record, including eight NCAA Regional Championships.
