WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The University of Central Missouri Track & Field program is set to honor three former standout coaches by renaming two of its home meets in Warrensburg on the 2025-26 schedule, it was announced Tuesday, Oct. 28.

The annual Central Missouri Invitational, held during indoor season inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center, will be on Friday, Jan. 16, this year. It has been renamed the Tucker Woolsey Invitational in honor of former longtime throws coach Tucker Woolsey. Woolsey coached the UCM throws program for 23 years before retiring in the summer of 2025.

For the outdoor season, the annual Mule Relays will be a two-day meet this year on April 9-10 in Warrensburg. The meet has been renamed to the Kirk and Kip Mule Relays in honor of former longtime Co-Track & Field Head Coaches Kirk Pedersen and Kip Janvrin.

"We couldn't be more excited to have the opportunity to celebrate the incredible history of our programs, and the three amazing coaches that led the Mules and Jennies to incredible success," UCM Track & Field Head Coach Kevin Paterson said. "Tucker, Kirk, and Kip are pillars of not only this program, but the entire UCM community. This is just one way we can honor them, and the countless hours they put in, and the thousands of lives they've touched here at Central Missouri. They created memories that will last a lifetime. Now, we get the chance to honor them every year on the track they loved to coach on."

Pedersen was the head coach for the UCM Cross Country program from 1987 to 2025 and served as the distance coach for the Mules & Jennies track & field teams from 2024-25. He retired in June 2025.

Pedersen served as the Co-Head Track & Field Coach alongside Janvrin from 1996 through 2024.

Janvrin served as the Co-Head Coach for the UCM Track & Field program from 1996 to 2024 before retiring in August 2024, but he had been involved with the program since 1988.

Janvrin, Pedersen, and Woolsey helped the Jennies Track & Field Team win the 2015 NCAA-II Indoor and Outdoor National Championships and coached the UCM Mules and Jennies Track & Field programs to numerous MIAA Championships and All-American performances.
