Topeka, Kan. – Central Missouri Jennies Bowling turned in another strong performance, going 11-1 and placing second overall at the Jayhawk Collegiate Challenge.
UCM rolled through qualifying with a 9-0 record, starting 5-0 in Saturday's team matches and adding four more victories in Sunday's Baker play. The Jennies advanced to bracket finals as the No. 1 seed, sweeping Avila University (3-0) and edging Peru State (3-2) before falling to No. 2 Ottawa University, 3-1, in the championship match.
Head coach Ron Holmes praised the team's effort:
"I thought the ladies did a very nice job this weekend. We are a very young team and everyone is really just learning how to work together. I think our talents really showed during qualifying and our inexperience showed during the Bracket Finals as we missed a large number of spares during our final two matches. We did a great job overall and will now work to control the nerves under higher pressure situations."
