SCENE SETTER
  • University of Central Missouri Mules Football (3-3, 3-1 MIAA) is back on the road this weekend for a MIAA game against the Washburn Ichabods (1-5, 0-4 MIAA) on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m. at Yager Stadium in Topeka, Kan.
  • UCM is coming off a 49-32 loss to No. 18-ranked Northwest Missouri State on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field in Warrensburg.
  • Through six games, Central Missouri leads the MIAA in scoring offense (35 points per game) and total offense (477.5 yards per game) and ranks second in passing offense (331.7 passing yards per game). UCM's 477.5 yards per game ranks fifth in all of NCAA-II for total offense.
  • Wide receiver Hogan Wasson ranks fourth in NCAA-II in receptions per game at 7.8 catches per game and is sixth in receiving yards per game at 102.3 yards while quarterback Donovyn Omolo is fourth in completions per game at 25 and fifth in total offense with 326.6 yards per game.
  • The Mules went 9-3 overall and finished tied for third in the MIAA at 6-3 last season in 2024. UCM advanced to the postseason for a second straight season, defeating the University of Texas Permian Basin, 39-37 in double overtime, in the Heritage Bowl Powered by RIOT on December 7 in Corsicana, Texas.
  • With Central Missouri's 9-3 record in 2024 and 11-2 mark in 2023, the Mules posted at least 20 wins in two consecutive seasons for just the second time in program history.
  • 2025 will be the 129th season in the history of Mules Football. UCM has played football every year since 1895, except for 1918 due to World War I.
  • Central Missouri was voted fourth in both the 2025 MIAA Preseason Coaches and Media Polls released in late July by the conference office.

NEW FACES
  • Mules Football welcomes 58 new student-athletes to their roster in 2025, including 36 high school freshmen and 22 transfers.
  • In addition, UCM has seven new coaches for the 2025 season. New coaches include: Rich Wright (Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Line), Neil Novak (Special Teams Coordinator/Defensive Backs), Vince Mayle (Wide Receivers), Jamal Morrow (Running Backs/Offensive Player Personnel), Dylan Graham (Tight Ends/Offensive Player Personnel), JaQuan Jenkins (Assistant Defensive Secondary) and Billy Musgrave (Assistant Defensive Line).
SERIES HISTORY
  • Saturday's game in Topeka will be the 54th meeting in the all-time series with Washburn, dating all the way back to 1902. The Mules lead the series, 30-21-2. Last season, UCM defeated Washburn in Warrensburg, 31-28.
LAST TIME OUT: NO. 18 NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE RUNS PAST MULES SATURDAY
  • University of Central Missouri Mules Football suffered a 49-32 setback to the No. 18-ranked Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats Saturday afternoon, Oct. 11, at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field.
  • Central Missouri jumped out to a 14-0 lead after touchdowns from Keyon Butler and Hogan Wasson in the first quarter before the Bearcats scored 21 straight points and gained a 21-14 advantage late in the second quarter.
  • Will Peacock converted a 31-yard field goal as time expired, sending the Mules into halftime down, 21-17.
  • Northwest Missouri State pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring UCM, 14-0, to open up a 35-14 lead going into the fourth quarter.
  • The Mules outscored the Bearcats in the final quarter, 15-14, resulting in the 49-32 final score.
  • UCM quarterback Donovyn Omolo went 22-of-45 for 256 yards and had two passing touchdowns while adding 68 rushing yards on 14 carries with a 12-yard rushing TD, pacing Central Missouri offensively for the game.
  • Garrett Hormann and Abraham Hoskins III each tallied 12 tackles, and Isaac Montgomery and Malachi Howard had interceptions, leading the Mules on the defensive side of the football.
  • For the game, Northwest Missouri State outgained UCM, 501 yards to 394 yards, including a 358-138 advantage in rushing yards. Central Missouri bested NWMSU in passing yards, 256-143.
  • Bearcat quarterback Zechariah Owens rushed for a game-high 124 yards on 11 carries and had four rushing touchdowns while going 7-of-14 for 80 yards and passing for two TDs, leading NWMSU in the contest.
THE MULES AT HOME
  • The Mules are 266-190-13 overall and 2025 is their 93rd season playing home games at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field.
  • Under Josh Lamberson, Central Missouri is 15-5 at home.
SCORING STREAK CONTINUES
  • Central Missouri has scored in 356 straight games, a MIAA record.
  • The streak dates to week three of the 1991 season.
MULES FOOTBALL HISTORY
  • In the 129 seasons of UCM Football the Mules have compiled a 607-541-51 record. Central Missouri has fielded a football team every year since 1895, except for 1918, when World War I occurred.
  • The Mules have won 10 or more games six times in the history of the program and have posted 15 seasons of eight or more wins.
  • UCM tied the program-record for wins in a season with 11 in 2023. The Mules also won 11 games in 2019 and 2010.
  • UCM has won or shared 14 MIAA championships in school history with the last coming in 2023.
  • The Mules have qualified for the postseason 13 times in their history, including five trips to the NCAA-II Playoffs, the last coming in 2023.
MULES IN THE PROS
  • Former Mules' Football All-Americans Zach Zebrowski (QB) and Arkell Smith (WR) are currently playing for the Edmonton Elks in the Canadian Football League (CFL).
  • Former Central Missouri defensive lineman David Olajiga (2021-2023) is currently on the New England Patriots' practice squad roster.
  • Former Mules' All-American tight end Zach Davidson (2016-2020) was selected in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings.
  • He marked the 12th Mules football player to be drafted in program history and the first since former UCM standout tight end Delanie Walker in 2006.
