SCENE SETTER
  • University of Central Missouri Mules Football (2-2, 2-0 MIAA) is scheduled to travel to Edmond, Okla., for a 7 p.m. MIAA contest against the University of Central Oklahoma Bronchos (2-2, 2-1 MIAA) on Saturday, Oct. 4, at Chad Richison Stadium.
  • The Mules are coming off a 62-10 victory over the Missouri Southern Lions on Sept. 27 in Warrensburg while the Bronchos are coming off a 38-16 loss at Northwest Missouri State Sept. 27 in Maryville, Mo.
  • In UCM's 62-10 triumph over Missouri Southern, the Mules tallied 620 yards of total offense, the most since Central Missouri posted 781 yards against Missouri Southern last season. In addition, UCM compiled 325 rushing yards, which were the most yards on the ground since 2023 when the Mules had 370 rushing yards at Lincoln.
  • Through four games, Central Missouri leads the MIAA in scoring offense (35.8 points per game) and total offense (492.8 yards per game), and ranks second in passing offense (346.5 passing yards per game). UCM's 492.8 yards per game ranks second in all of NCAA-II for total offense.
  • Wide receiver Hogan Wasson ranks third in NCAA-II in receptions per game at nine catches per game while quarterback Donovyn Omolo is seventh in total offense with 313.7 yards per game.
  • The Mules went 9-3 overall and finished tied for third in the MIAA at 6-3 last season in 2024. UCM advanced to the postseason for a second straight season, defeating the University of Texas Permian Basin, 39-37 in double overtime, in the Heritage Bowl Powered by RIOT on December 7 in Corsicana, Texas.
  • With Central Missouri's 9-3 record in 2024 and 11-2 mark in 2023, the Mules posted at least 20 wins in two consecutive seasons for just the second time in program history.
  • 2025 will be the 129th season in the history of Mules Football. UCM has played football every year since 1895, except for 1918 due to World War I.
  • Central Missouri was voted fourth in both the 2025 MIAA Preseason Coaches and Media Polls released in late July by the conference office.

  • Mules Football welcomes 58 new student-athletes to their roster in 2025, including 36 high school freshmen and 22 transfers.
  • In addition, UCM has seven new coaches for the 2025 season. New coaches include: Rich Wright (Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Line), Neil Novak (Special Teams Coordinator/Defensive Backs), Vince Mayle (Wide Receivers), Jamal Morrow (Running Backs/Offensive Player Personnel), Dylan Graham (Tight Ends/Offensive Player Personnel), JaQuan Jenkins (Assistant Defensive Secondary) and Billy Musgrave (Assistant Defensive Line).
SERIES HISTORY
  • Saturday's contest at Central Oklahoma will mark the 13th meeting in the all-time series dating back to the first meeting in 2012. The Mules lead the series, 8-4. Last season, UCO defeated the Mules in Edmond, 57-40.
LAST TIME OUT: MULES FOOTBALL TURNS BACK MISSOURI SOUTHERN DURING UCM FAMILY WEEKEND, 62-10
  • Donovyn Omolo threw for 295 yards, and Latravious Boyd rushed for 114 yards and tallied two touchdowns, leading the University of Central Missouri Mules Football Team to a 62-10 victory over the Missouri Southern Lions during the annual UCM Family Weekend game on Saturday, Sept. 27, at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field.
  • After jumping out to a 7-0 lead when Omolo scampered into the end zone on a 32-yard run with 9:21 to go in the first quarter, Central Missouri outscored Missouri Southern, 35-7, in the second quarter and took control of the game for good en route to the 62-10 triumph.
  • Keyon Butler compiled a touchdown on a one-yard run with 14:10, opening UCM's offensive surge in the second quarter, before Boyd scored back-to-back rushing TDs on a 63-yard run (11:13) and 15-yard run (6:21), ballooning the Mules' advantage to 28-7.
  • Marlon Lindsey, Jr., reeled in a 20-yard feed from Omolo, then Trey Patrick provided the exclamation point in the second quarter, intercepting a Lion pass and returning it 30 yards to the house just before halftime for Central Missouri's first defensive touchdown since last season at Emporia State, giving the home team a 42-7 lead at the break.
  • Central Missouri didn't let up in the second half, outscoring the Lions, 20-3, to seal the win.
  • Omolo finished the game 31-of-42 with one passing and one rushing touchdown, 295 passing yards and 31 rushing yards, Boyd posted a career-high 114 rushing yards on nine carries with his two touchdowns, Jayden Lang rushed for a career-best 67 yards on 11 attempts, LaAngelo Bell had 63 yards on 11 carries, and Butler posted 39 yards on 12 carries with two touchdowns, rounding out the UCM offensive leaders in the contest.
  • Patrick had two interceptions, Izziek Chandler posted an interception, Garrett Hormann tallied eight tackles, including a quarterback sack and forced a fumble, and Max Toia recovered a fumble, leading Central Missouri defensively.
  • The Mules outgained the Lions in the game, 620 yards to 277 yards, including a 325-116 advantage in rushing and 295-161 lead in passing, and recorded 41 first downs while limiting MSSU to just 20 first downs in the contest. Central Missouri also won the time-of-possession battle, 36:56 to 23:04.
  • UCM's 620 yards of total offense were the most since the Mules compiled 781 yards of offense against Missouri Southern last season, and Central Missouri's 325 rushing yards marked the most yards on the ground since 2023 at Lincoln when UCM posted 370 rushing yards.
