WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Zach Zebrowski threw for 503 yards with six touchdowns as the No. 2-ranked Central Missouri Mules football team rolled past the Northeastern State RiverHawks, 63-21, in its 2024 season and home opener Saturday, Sept. 7, at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field.
The Mules (1-0) are scheduled to open their MIAA schedule with a road game at Central Oklahoma Saturday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. in Edmond, Okla.
Zebrowski, a redshirt senior quarterback from Woodbury, Minn., went 38-for-48 for his 503 passing yards and tallied six TDs through the air while adding 15 yards rushing and a rushing touchdown to lead Central Missouri offensively.
In his UCM debut, receiver
NyNy Davis compiled 101 yards on five catches with a pair of touchdowns, including a 17-yard TD in the first quarter and 44-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter. Fellow Central Missouri newcomer
Hogan Wasson added a 68-yard TD and had 95 receiving yards on five catches, while
Marcellous Hawkins posted 71 yards on five catches.
Hawkins rushed for a team-high 60 yards on 10 attempts with rushing touchdowns of seven (first quarter) and 10 yards (third quarter).
Noah Blair compiled a team-high 10 tackles while LaDarian Paul posted an interception and
Tyler Shuey added a quarterback sack, leading the Mules' defense.
For the game, Central Missouri outgained Northeastern State (0-2), 629-308, including a 514-153 advantage in passing yards. The Mules were an impressive 6-of-7 in red zone scoring in the victory.
UCM jumped out to a 35-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back the remainder of the contest.
