WARRENSBURG, Mo. – No. 4-ranked Central Missouri Jennies soccer moved to 3-0 on the season after posting a 1-0, shutout win over the No. 15-ranked Minnesota State Mavericks Friday evening, Sept. 13, at the South Recreation Complex.
The Jennies are scheduled to host No. 2-ranked Grand Valley State (2-0) Sunday, Sept. 15, at 1 p.m. in Warrensburg.
The lone and what proved to be winning goal of the match for UCM occurred in the 24th-minute when
Caroline Cole intercepted a Maverick pass and powered a shot on the left side of the box into the back of the net for her team-best fourth goal of the season.
For the match, UCM and Minnesota State (1-1-1) each compiled seven shots, with the Mavericks posting a 5-2 edge in shot on goal.
Jennies' goalkeeper
Kristen Wright (3-0-0) earned the victory between the posts after securing her first shutout of 2024, allowing no goals while making a game-best five saves in 90 minutes.
Abigail Rieff had two shots on goal to lead Minnesota State offensively.
Maverick goalkeeper Lauren McAlpine suffered the setback in goal, giving up one goal while making one save in 90 minutes.
