WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The No. 4-ranked Central Missouri Jennies soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to the No. 2-ranked Grand Valley State Lakers Sunday, Sept. 15, at the South Recreation Complex.
The Jennies (3-1-0) are scheduled to travel to No. 12 Dallas Baptist (1-0-1) for a non-conference match Thursday, Sept. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in Dallas, Texas.
The Lakers (3-0-1) jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 21st-miniute before upping their lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 79th-minute.
Central Missouri was able to trim the lead to 2-1 after
Ashleigh Martin converted a penalty-kick goal in the 83rd-minute, but UCM couldn't find an equalizer in the final seven minutes of the match.
For the match, the Jennies outshot the Lakers, 24-7, including a 9-5 advantage in shots on goal. UCM also bested GVSU in corner kicks, 8-4.
Martin tallied three shots on goal and her second goal of 2024, pacing Central Missouri offensively.
Emma Chudik and Alli French netted Grand Valley State's goals, leading the Lakers on offense.

Kristen Wright (3-1-0) suffered the setback between the posts, allowing two goals while making three saves in 90 minutes.
Grand Valley State goalkeeper Cailynn Junk (2-0-1) earned the win in goal, making four saves and giving up one goal in about 29 minutes of action.
