Scene Setter
  • No. 17 Central Missouri volleyball continues the 2024 season on Friday, Sept. 13, in the opening day of the Colorado Premier Challenge with a pair of matches against Dallas Baptist (11:00 a.m. CST) and No. 4 MSU-Denver (7:00 p.m. CST) from the Auraria Event Center in Denver, Colo.
  • The Jens will play two additional matches on Saturday with the first match scheduled for 12:30 p.m. (CST) against an opponent to be determined based on the results of play Friday.   
  • UCM is ranked 17th in the latest AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) poll of the 2024 season. This is the 446th week that Central Missouri has been ranked in the top-25 in the AVCA poll, the most by any program in all of Division II. 
  • The Jens went 2-1 last weekend at the BritKare Lady Buff Classic with sweeps over West Virginia State (25-17, 25-22, 27-25) and Texas A&M International (25-21, 28-26, 25-14) while falling to No. 3 West Texas A&M by a final score of 3-1 (15-25, 25-19, 23-25, 22-25) in Canyon, Texas.
  • The defending MIAA regular season and tournament champions are the top seed in the conference according to the MIAA Preseason Volleyball Coaches' Poll that was released on Friday, Aug. 23, as the Jens received 113 points overall including five first-place votes.

  • This weekend's matches will be available for free on the RMAC Network with coverage beginning at 11:00 a.m. (CST) and 7:00 p.m. (CST) on Friday, Sept. 13, from the Auraria Event Center in Denver, Colo.       
 
Meet the Jens  
Series History
  • Dallas Baptist: Friday morning marks the third meeting all-time between the Jens and DBU with both matchups resulting in 3-0 sweeps for Central Missouri during the 2009 season including a 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-14) victory in the opening match of the NCAA-II South Central Regional played in Warrensburg.
  • No. 3 MSU-Denver: Heading into play on Friday evening, this will be the 25th match between the Roadrunners and UCM with the Jens having a 15-9 record dating back to the 1985 season. Their latest contest came in the final match of the 2023 Colorado Premier Challenge with No. 6 MSU winning 3-1 (19-25, 26-24, 22-25, 18-25).
 
UCM in the Polls
  • The Jens are ranked 17th in the latest AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches' Association) poll released on Monday, Sept. 9. This is the 446th week that Central Missouri has been ranked in the top-25 in the AVCA poll, the most by any program in all of Division II.
  • UCM is one of three teams from the MIAA conference ranked alongside No. 6 Nebraska-Kearney and No. 18 Central Oklahoma while the Washburn Ichabods and Missouri Western Griffons each received votes in the latest poll.
 
Jens By the Numbers
  • Central Missouri averaged 15.2 digs, 13.6 kills, 12.6 assists, 1.8 blocks and 2.5 service aces per set through three matches this season. 
  • Elinor Engel (seven blocks overall) co-leads the team in kills (34), kills per set (3.4), while ranking second in points (39.5), points per set (3.95), blocks (seven), and blocks per set (0.7).
  • Sophomore Maya Fergerson is tied for the most kills (34) and kills per set (3.4) for Central Missouri while ranking third in blocks (six), points (37), and points per set (3.7).  
  • Setter Maddie Wojdyla leads the Jens with 117 assists on the year, averaging 11.7 assists per set adding 16 digs (1.6 digs per set) for good measure. 
  • Sophomore Emma Siron leads the team in points (41.5) and service aces (seven) while ranking second in digs (23) and digs per set (2.3).  
  • Middle blocker Rachel Ziesman paces the Jens with 10 blocks on the year averaging one block per set and is fourth on the team in kills (17) and points (22).
  • Redshirt junior Grace Winkelmann leads Central Missouri with 50 digs on the year, averaging five digs per set and her four service aces is third-best on the team through three matches.
 
 UCM in the Postseason
  • The Jens made their 37th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history last season and the first under 2023 MIAA Coach of the Year Caitlin Peterson as the Jens have a 41-41 overall record including eight NCAA Regional Championships.
