SAN ANGELO, Texas -- Trey Miller is first in the decathlon and
Kayla Goodwin is fourth in the heptathlon, leading UCM track & field through day one of the David Noble Relays Thursday, April 4, at LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field.
With five of 10 events complete in the decathlon, Miller leads the field with 3,938 points while Mules' teammate
Logan Grover is in third with 3,741 points. Miller won the 100m dash with a personal-best 10.62, finished second in the shot put with a mark of 12.80m and the 400m dash with a time of 49.20, placed third in the long jump with a mark of 7.00m, and was fouth in the high jump with a mark of 1.85m.
Grover was third in the 100m dash with a personal-best 10.85 and shot put with a mark of 12.76m (personal-best), fourth in the long jump with a mark of 6.75m (personal-best) and high jump at 1.85m (personal-best) and fifth in the 400m dash with a personal-best time of 51.01.
In the heptathlon with four of seven events in the books, Goodwin has 3,089 for fourth place while fellow Jenny
Kristen Jones is 13th with 2,487 points. Goodwin posted a third-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 10.93m, was fourth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.61, fifth in the high jump at 1.65m and eighth in the 200m dash with a time of 25.86.
Jones posted top-10 finishes in the high jump (10th with a personal-best 1.53m) and 200m dash (10th with a time of 26.21), and was 11th in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 9.09m and 14th in the 100m hurdles with a personal-best time of 17.12.
Both the decathlon and heptathlon will conclude Friday, April 5. The remaining events include the long jump, javelin and 800m run in the heptathlon and the 110m hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1,500m run in the decathlon.
