Jennies Softball Splits Doubleheader with No. 8 Central Oklahoma Friday

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Central Missouri Jennies (18-19, 7-9 MIAA) split a doubleheader with No. 9 Central Oklahoma Bronchos (31-7, 11-1 MIAA) winning by a final score of 4-2 before falling 3-0 on Friday, April 5, from Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg.

The Jens return to the diamond on Saturday, April 6, for Youth Day / 1989 & 1994 Women's College World Series Team Reunion Day as they continue MIAA play hosting the Newman Jets (15-23, 3-9 MIAA) with first pitch of game one scheduled for 12:00 p.m. from Jennies Field in Warrensburg.

Game 1: Central Missouri 4, No. 8 Central Oklahoma 2
The Bronchos jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to a pair of solo home runs in the first and sixth innings, but Central Missouri answered with four runs in the bottom of the sixth beginning with a second baseman Taylor Thompson RBI single (scoring Lexi Blackmon) cutting the UCO lead in half.

The ensuing batter for the Jens was pinch hitter MaKenzie Cooper who tied the contest with an RBI single that scored Carly Youngblood before UCM took the lead for good with an RBI single from Aubrie McRoberts (scoring Thompson). The final run of the game came with a bases-loaded walk by catcher Laney Killpack (scoring Cooper) as Sadie Parks (2-1) picks up her second win of the year tossing 1 1/3 hitless innings in relief of Paige Petefish while Blackmon paced the Jens offensively going 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored for good measure.

Game 2: No. 8 Central Oklahoma 3, Central Missouri 0 (8 inn.)
After a scoreless seven innings of play, the Bronchos tallied all three runs in the top of the eighth inning and never relinquished as they won their 11th conference game of the season. Brooke Weimer (6-9) suffered the loss in the circle for Central Missouri allowing two runs (two earned) on five hits while striking out nine Broncho batters while Jadyn Sheffield and Abby Allnutt led UCM offensively going 1-for-3 at the plate each in the doubleheader finale.
