CLAREMORE, Okla. – Second-ranked Central Missouri Mules baseball secured at least a share of its fifth straight and 30th overall MIAA Regular Season Championship with a 4-1 victory over the Rogers State Hillcats in the second game of a three-game MIAA series Saturday, April 20, at the Diamond Sports Complex.
The Mules (39-5, 26-3 MIAA) and Hillcats (22-20, 12-17 MIAA) are slated to play the series finale Sunday, April 21, at 1 p.m. in Claremore. With a win, UCM would clinch the MIAA Regular Season Crown outright.
Max Holy went 2-for-3 while
Jack Schark was 2-for-4 with a double,
Brennen van Breusegen homered for the team-best 17th time in 2024, and
Jacob Steele posted a three-run home run for his 11th round-tripper of the season, pacing Central Missouri at the plate in the win.
Right-hander
Jack Kriesman (4-1) earned the win on the mound for the Mules after allowing no earned runs on just three hits with three strikeouts and two walks in six innings while
JD McReynolds secured his second save of the season after getting the final out in the bottom of the ninth inning with a strikeout.
Joel Escalante went 2-for-4 and Jake Mitchell homered, pacing Rogers State offensively in the contest.
RSU starting pitcher Colton Anderson (3-4) suffered the setback on the mound after surrendering four earned runs on nine hits with four strikeouts and three walks in seven innings of work.
