Jennies Softball Drops Both of Doubleheader with Maryville

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Central Missouri Jennies (21-24, 10-12 MIAA) dropped both games of a doubleheader with the Maryville Saints (20-25, 10-10 GLVC) by final scores of 17-10 and 4-2 on Wednesday, April 17, from Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg.      
 
The Jens return to the diamond on Friday, April 26, as they host the Missouri Western Griffons (25-15, 9-9 MIAA) for Military Appreciation Night with first pitch of game one scheduled for 3:00 p.m. from Jennies Field.
 
Game 1: Maryville 17, Central Missouri 10
The Saints took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the third as UCM responded with a pair of runs of their own thanks to an RBI single from Halle Howes followed by an RBI walk from Lexi Blackmon made it a one run game.
 
Maryville answered with seven runs in the third before the Jens' Morgan Shields plated a run with an RBI triple to right center field in the bottom of the inning. After the Saints scored six runs in the top of the fourth, Central Missouri responded with a trio of runs beginning with a 2-RBI single from Taylor Thompson, followed by an RBI single from Abby Allnutt.
 
In the fifth, the Jens cut the lead to seven with a pinch-hit three-run homer off the bat of Carly Youngblood and plated a run in the seventh with an RBI double from Hayden Serna as Thompson paced UCM offensively going 3-for-5 at the dish with two RBI, while Aubrie McRoberts went 2-for-2 with a run scored for good measure.  
 
Game 2: Maryville 4, Central Missouri 2
Maryville scored all four runs in the top of the third before the Jens answered with a two-run dinger from designated hitter MaKenzie Cooper in the bottom of the fifth as the Saints secured their 20th win of the season.
 
Andi Siebeneck (2-4) suffered the loss in the circle while Blackmon and Cooper led UCM offensively as each player went 2-for-4 at the plate on the afternoon.
