WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Central Missouri Jennies (8-11, 1-3) split a pair of games against the Southwest Baptist Bearcats (11-11, 0-0) winning by a final score of 5-4, before falling 2-1 (5 inn.) on Tuesday from Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg.
The Jens return to the diamond on Thursday, March 14, as they continue a 12-game homestand with a doubleheader against the MSU-Moorhead Dragons (8-6, 0-0) with first pitch of game one scheduled for 3:00 p.m. from Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg.
Game 1: Central Missouri 5, Southwest Baptist 4
The Bearcats began the game with a lead-off home run, but UCM answered in the bottom of the inning with an RBI double from right fielder
Lexi Blackmon (scoring
Jadyn Sheffield) tying the game at one a piece. After Southwest Baptist regained the lead with a run in the fourth, the Jens quickly responded tying it up at two with a designated player
MaKenzie Cooper RBI groundout (scoring
Abby Allnutt).
The Bearcats scored a pair of runs in the top of the fifth before Central Missouri cut the lead in half with a first baseman
Breanna Newton RBI single (scoring Blackmon) in the fifth and tied the game with a pinch-hit RBI double from
Hayden Serna in the sixth (scoring
Aubrie McRoberts).
After a lead-off single from Blackmon and later advanced into scoring position on a stolen base, second baseman
Taylor Thompson's sacrifice bunt was able to bring home the winning run as the Jens walked-off game one with a 5-4 victory.
Andi Siebeneck (1-1) picked up the victory in the circle tossing one inning allowing no runs or hits in relief as Blackmon paced UCM offensively going 2-for-4 scoring twice and driving in one run for good measure.
Game 2: Southwest Baptist 2, Central Missouri 1 (5 inn.)
Southwest Baptist got on the board with a pair of runs in the top of the third before the Jens cut the deficit in half with an RBI single from Sheffield (scoring
Laney Killpack). After the completion of the fifth inning, the contest went into a weather delay and was later determined as a complete ballgame.
