TOPEKA, Kan. – The Central Missouri Jennies (6-5, 0-0) split a pair of games defeating the St. Cloud State Huskies (9-4, 0-0) 4-2 before falling to the Minnesota State Mavericks (9-2, 0-0) by a final score of 5-0 on Sunday, Feb. 25, in the final day of the Washburn Invitational from Gahnstrom Field in Topeka.
The Jens return to the diamond on Tuesday, Mar. 5, for a doubleheader against the William Jewell Cardinals (6-8, 0-0) beginning at 2:00 p.m. from Cardinal Field in Liberty, Mo.

UCM got on the board in their opening frame of the contest with an RBI groundout off the bat of first baseman

Lexi Blackmon), but the Huskies answered taking a 2-1 lead with a pair of runs in the third.

Paige Petefish (1-1) earned the victory in the circle allowing five hits, two runs (two earned), striking out six batters on 91 pitches in a complete game outing while Newton paced UCM offensively at the plate going a perfect 3-for-3 in the winning effort.

In the Washburn Invitational finale, the Mavericks scored a pair of runs in the first inning before adding two more in the third and one in the sixth as the Jens were limited to one hit offensively registered by third baseman
Halle Howes in the third.

Brooke Weimer (3-2) suffered the loss in the circle allowing six hits and four runs (four earned) striking out a trio of MSU batters in 3 2/3 innings.
