Mules Basketball Defeats Nebraska-Kearney 67-58 Thursday

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Central Missouri Mules (11-12, 6-11) defeated the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers (5-18, 2-16) by a final score of 67-58 on Thursday evening inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg.      
 
The Mules dictated the pace in the opening half of play leading by as many as 16 and never relinquished picking up their 11th win of the season led by redshirt senior Keith Kiner III's 19 points (connecting on 7-of-12 from the floor including 1-of-2 from beyond the arc), adding a team-high seven rebounds.
 
Central Missouri had three players total finish in double-figures including freshman Tim Jordan Jr. (17 points and three rebounds) and guard Jalen Knott (13 points and three rebounds) in the winning effort. Junior Yafet Haile had six points, five rebounds, and two steals while guards Jordan Hayes (team-high seven rebounds and team-high four assists) and Corey Skillman Jr. (two rebounds) ended the contest with five points each.
 
The Mules outscored UNK in numerous offensive categories including in the paint (30-26), off the bench (21-4), second chance (10-8), and fast break (7-6) as redshirt senior Caleb Nero contributed three rebounds and two points for good measure.
 
Central Missouri returns to the court on Saturday, Feb. 17, as they continue MIAA play hosting the Fort Hays State Tigers with tip-off scheduled for 3:00 p.m. inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center for the Hall of Fame Game in Warrensburg.
