  • University of Central Missouri Jennies basketball (16-6, 10-6 MIAA) is scheduled to host the Nebraska Kearney Lopers (17-6, 11-6 MIAA) and Fort Hays State (18-5, 12-5 MIAA) in a pair of MIAA games Thursday, Feb. 15, and Saturday, Feb. 17, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center (formerly Multipurpose Building) in Warrensburg. The Jennies are slated to face the Lopers at 5:30 p.m. Thursday before taking on the Tigers on Saturday at 1 p.m.
  • Thursday's game vs. the Lopers is a "Red Out." All UCM fans are encouraged to wear Red to the game. 
  • Saturday is Hall of Fame Day at UCM. Former UCM Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics, the late Jerry Hughes, will be inducted into the UCM Athletic Hall of Fame Saturday morning before the rededication ceremony of the Multipurpose Building to the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center at 11:15 a.m. Saturday. Hughes served as UCM's AD for 40 years (1983-2023) before passing away in January 2023. 
  • Saturday's contest is also the annual Play 4 Kay Pink Game for breast cancer awareness.
  • The Jennies are coming off a 78-65 victory over then No. 24-ranked Missouri Southern Saturday, Feb. 10, in Joplin, Mo. The win snapped the Lions' 15-game winning streak.
  • Through 22 games, the Central Missouri is paced by Brooke Littrell (19.1 ppg., 8.7 rpg., 2.6 apg., 1.2 spg.), Olivia Nelson (14.8 ppg., 4.3 apg., 2.0 spg., 2.8 rpg.) and Ashley Tull (10.3 ppg., 5.9 rpg., 1.1 bpg.).
  • Littrell leads the MIAA in scoring through 22 games with her 19.1 points per game and ranks second with her .898 free-throw percentage.
  • As a team through 22 contests, the Jennies are shooting 45.4 percent from the floor, 29.6 percent from three-point range and 76 percent at the free-throw line. UCM is outscoring its opponents, 74.6-62.8 and outrebounding adversaries, 37.6-31.7.
Last Time Out for UCM: Slifer Picks Up Career Win 800 as Jennies Basketball Takes Down No. 24 Missouri Southern, 78-65
  • University of Central Missouri women's basketball head coach Dave Slifer earned his 800th career win as the Jennies took down No. 24-ranked Missouri Southern, 78-65, Saturday afternoon, Feb. 10, inside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
  • Slifer, who is in his 20th season as head coach at Central Missouri and 35th overall as a head coach, became just the second active coach in NCAA-II history to post at least 800 career wins, moving his career mark to 800-276.
  • Brooke Littrell led four Jennies in double figures in the game, netting 19 points while pulling down 10 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season, while Ashley Tull had 16 points, Olivia Nelson added 15 points and a team-best six assists, and Ali Vigil compiled a career-high 14 points.
  • For the game, UCM shot 49 percent from the field (24-of-49) and were 56 percent from three-point range (10-of-18). The Jennies made 20 out of 24 free-throws for 83 percent and controlled the glass, outrebounding the Lions, 31-22.
Individual Milestones
  • UCM head coach Dave Slifer earned his 400th win at Central Missouri in the 66-64 overtime MIAA tournament semifinal win over Fort Hays State March 4, 2023. Slifer is an impressive 416-177 in his now 20 seasons as the Central Missouri women's basketball head coach. He's already the winningest head coach in both UCM and MIAA women's basketball history, and the second-winningest coach in NCAA Division II history (800 career victories in 33 seasons).

  • Central Missouri was picked first in both the 2023-24 MIAA Preseason Coaches and Media Polls. UCM received 167 points and 11 first-place votes in the coaches poll and 283 points and four first-place votes in the media poll.
Jennies Basketball Inks High School Standout Taylor Weishaar During Signing Period
  • University of Central Missouri Jennies basketball head coach Dave Slifer announced the signing of Riverside High School standout Taylor Weishaar to a National Letter of Intent during the 2023-24 signing period Friday, Nov. 17.
  • Weishaar: 2023 Sports in Kansas 2A Player of the Year…First Team All-State as a junior…Two-time unanimous first team all-league…Second Team All-State as a sophomore…All-State Honorable Mention and all-league honorable mention as a freshman…four-year letterwinner…Averaged 17.2 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 2.5 blocks per game as a junior…Helped her team to a Kansas 2A Substate Championship and Kansas 2A State Runner Up finish…Was also a four-year letterwinner in volleyball…First team all-league volleyball as a junior and senior…Daughter of Russell and Lori Weishaar…Plans to major in exercise science at UCM.
