Slow Start Dooms Jennies Basketball in Loss to Concordia-St. Paul Saturday

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Central Missouri Jennies basketball was unable to overcome a cold shooting performance in the first half in an 83-61 loss to the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears Saturday, Nov. 9, in the Central Bank Cross Regional Tournament inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center.

The Jennies (2-2) are scheduled to travel to Moorhead, Minn., for a road contest at MSU Moorhead Thursday, Nov. 14, at 6 p.m.

UCM shot 40 percent from the field for the game but were ice cold in the first and second quarters, shooting just 15 percent in the opening stanza and 35 percent in the second before improving to 71 percent in the third quarter and 39 percent in the fourth quarter.

Lauren Frost tallied a season-high 19 points, Cierra Smith added 14 points, and Reese Schaaf had 12 points and nine rebounds to pace the Jennies in the contest.

Central Missouri outscored Concordia-St. Paul (2-0) in points off turnovers, 21-12, but the Golden Bears outrebounded the Jennies, 38-30 and posted a 40-28 advantage in points in the paint.

Lydia Haack had 17 points, pacing Concordia-St. Paul.

CSP shot 51 percent from the field for the game, going 32-of-63.
