PITTSBURG, Kan. – Zach Zebrowski totaled 478 yards of total offense and scored four touchdowns as the Central Missouri Mules football team rolled past the No. 1/5-ranked Pittsburg State Gorillas, 37-13, Saturday afternoon, Nov. 2, at Carnie Smith Stadium.
The Mules (6-3, 4-3 MIAA) are scheduled to travel to Emporia, Kan., for a 1 p.m. MIAA contest at No. 11/13 Emporia State (7-2, 5-2 MIAA) Saturday, Nov. 9, at Francis G. Welch Stadium.
Saturday's contest marked the first win for Central Missouri football at Pittsburg State since 2016.
Zebrowski went 22-for-31 for 382 yards with two touchdown passes and added 96 rushing yards on 13 carries with a pair of rushing touchdowns for his 478 yards of total offense.
LaAngelo Bell rushed for 102 yards on 21 carries while
Michael Fitzgerald II had four catches for 108 receiving yards and caught a 62-yard touchdown pass, and
Cristian Dixon snagged a 15-yard touchdown pass, leading UCM offensively.
Jevean Brown compiled 12 tackles,
Cale Miller added nine tackles, including a quarterback sack, and
Joshua Bean added a quarterback sack, pacing Central Missouri defensively.
For the game, the Mules outgained the Gorillas (7-2, 6-2 MIAA), 607 yards to 330 yards. The 330 yards was a season-low for Pittsburg State, which entered the game ranked No. 1 in the most recent D2Football.com poll and No. 5 in the AFCA Division II Coaches' Poll. The Mules compiled a season-high 225 rushing yards while limiting the Gorillas to a season-low 99 yards on the ground. UCM added 382 yards passing and held Pitt State to 231 yards.
Central Missouri had 31 first downs and limited Pittsburg State to 21 first downs and won the time of possession battle, 31:04 to 28:56.
Pittsburg State quarterback Chad Dodson, Jr., went 16-for-36 for 231 yards with one touchdown, leading the Gorillas.
