WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Weston King scored a go-ahead touchdown at the start of the fourth quarter as the Central Missouri Mules football team posted a 31-28 win over the Washburn Ichabods in the annual UCM Homecoming Game Saturday afternoon, Oct. 26, at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field.
The Mules (5-3, 3-3 MIAA) are slated to travel to Pittsburg, Kan., for a 2 p.m. MIAA contest at No. 6 Pittsburg State (6-1, 5-1 MIAA) Saturday, Nov. 2, at Carnie Smith Stadium.
King, a defensive lineman, received a handoff from quarterback
Zach Zebrowski with 14:56 to go in the fourth quarter and powered the ball into the end zone for his first-career touchdown, giving the Mules a 31-28 lead.
That proved to be all UCM needed to secure the victory, as the Central Missouri defense kept Washburn off the scoreboard the remainder of the quarter, capped off by an interception from
Charles Gadie with one second to go, sealing the triumph.Â
Zebrowski went 24-for-29 for 243 yards and threw for two touchdowns while running back
LaAngelo Bell collected a career-high 113 yards on 23 carries, and wide receiver
Jack Pospisil reeled in touchdown passes of three and 21 yards and had 88 receiving yards on eight catches, pacing Central Missouri offensively.

Noah Blair each tallied interceptions,
Reyjon Williams forced a fumble that was recovered by
Joshua Bean,
Lane West had a quarterback sack for four yards, and
Talon Sanders had a team-best seven tackles, leading the UCM defense.
For the game, the Ichabods (2-6, 2-5 MIAA) outgained the Mules, 452 yards to 389 yards, including a 350-243 advantage in passing yards, but the Mules bested Washburn in rushing yards, 146-102, and tallied 23 first downs compared to just 19 for Washburn.
Washburn quarterback Sam Van Dyne was 18-for-23 for 330 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions, while wide receive Tre Richardson had 229 receiving yards on 11 catches with two touchdowns, leading the Ichabods.
