No. 11 Jennies Basketball Knocks Off No. 10 Fort Hays State Thursday, 72-65

HAYS, Kan. – Olivia Nelson scored 15 points leading three players in double figures as No. 11-ranked Central Missouri Jennies basketball defeated the No. 10-ranked Fort Hays State Tigers, 72-65, inside Gross Memorial Coliseum Thursday, Jan. 4.

The Jennies (10-2, 4-2 MIAA) are scheduled to travel to Kearney, Neb., for a 2 p.m. MIAA contest at Nebraska Kearney (11-2, 5-2 MIAA) Saturday, Jan. 6.

Nelson netted her team-high 15 points on 6-of-20 shooting from the floor, including a 2-for-3 performance from three-point range, and dished out three assists. Lauren Frost added 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor and a 2-of-2 mark from beyond-the-arc, going along with three assists, and Allie Clevenger had 11 points on 3-of-5 shooting, including a 2-for-4 clip from three-point range, and 3-of-4 showing at the free-throw line, rounding out the Jennies in double figures.

Graycen Holden led UCM on the glass with seven rebounds.

For the game, Central Missouri shot 47 percent from the floor (27-of-58), were a season-best 62 percent from three-point range (8-of-13) and made 10 out of 16 free throws (63 percent). UCM was outrebounded by Fort Hays State (11-2, 5-2 MIAA), 37-33, but outscored the Tigers in the paint, 32-18, and off turnovers, 16-11.

Katie Wagner compiled a game-high 24 points, leading Fort Hays State.

The Tigers shot 33 percent from the field (17-of-51), 30 percent from beyond-the-arc (6-of-20) and 81 percent at the foul line (25-of-31).
