WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Three players scored in double figures as the University of Central Missouri Mules basketball team defeated the No. 22-ranked Missouri Western Griffons, 68-60, in a MIAA game Saturday, Jan. 27, inside the UCM Multipurpose Building.
The Mules (10-8, 5-7 MIAA) are scheduled to host Pittsburg State in a conference contest Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 5:30 p.m. in Warrensburg.
Jalen Knott tallied 17 points and went 10-of-13 at the free-throw line while
Yafet Haile compiled a career-high 16 points on a perfect 7-of-7 shooting performance from the floor and a 2-of-2 showing at the free-throw line.
Tim Jordan Jr. rounded out the Mules in double figures with 11 points and tied his career-best with three assists, and
Jordan Hayes snagged a career-best 12 rebounds.
The Mules never trailed in the victory, leading from start to finish.
For the game, Central Missouri shot 50 percent from the floor (22-of-44) and were 21-of-28 at the free-throw line for 75 percent.
Missouri Western (14-5, 8-5 MIAA) outrebounded the Mules, 35-29, but UCM tallied a 36-18 advantage in points in the paint and a 20-9 advantage in points off turnovers.
Taye Fields netted 12 points to lead the Griffons.
