Mules Basketball Falls to Pittsburg State 63-58 Tuesday

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Central Missouri Mules (10-9, 5-8) fell to the Pittsburg State Gorillas (11-8, 7-6) by a final score of 63-58 on Tuesday night inside the Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg.
 
The Gorillas led by nine at the break and never relinquished as they picked up their 11th win on the year led by forward Deshaun English II's double-double performance (game-high 15 points and 10 rebounds).
 
Central Missouri was led by freshmen Tim Jordan Jr. who finished the contest with a game-high 15 points and eight rebounds while guard Corey Skillman Jr. had 12 points, a career-high four rebounds, two assists, and two steals for good measure.
 
Tulsa, Okla. native Caleb Nero contributed 10 points, four rebounds, and two assists plus redshirt senior Jordan Hayes grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds adding seven points, five assists, and three steals.
 
Guard Jalen Knott ended the game with six points, while junior Yafet Haile had six rebounds and four points as UCM out-scored the Gorillas in numerous offensive categories including points off turnovers (17-13), points in the paint (32-30), and second-chance points (16-4).
 
Forward Keith Kiner III (six rebounds and two steals) and Jack Chapman ended the contest with two points each.
 
Central Missouri returns to the court on Saturday, Feb. 3, as they continue MIAA play against the Lincoln Blue Tigers with tip-off scheduled for 3:00 p.m. inside the Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg.
