MANKATO, Minn. – The No. 20-ranked Central Missouri Jennies soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at No. 8-ranked Minnesota State Friday, Sept. 8, at The Pitch after the Mavericks netted a goal with less than a minute remaining in the match.
The Jennies (1-2) are scheduled to face UMary (1-1-1) Sunday, Sept. 10, at 11 a.m. in Mankato.
UCM and Minnesota State (2-0-1) played to a scoreless draw for 89 minutes before the Mavericks' Avery Korsching placed a shot from just outside the box into the back of the net off an assist from Kiera Laney in the final minute of the match.
The Jennies outshot the Mavericks in the match, 17-11, including a 3-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Caroline Cole tallied six shots while
Mikayla Ernst had three shots, including two shots on goal, pacing UCM offensively.
Central Missouri goalkeeper
Kristen Wright (0-1-0) suffered the tough-luck loss in goal after going the full 90 minutes and giving up one goal while making one save.
Maverick goalkeeper Mackenzie Rath (2-0-1) earned the win between the posts after playing the full 90 minutes and allowing no goals while making three saves. Â
