Jennies Volleyball Falls to No. 25 Rockhurst in Five

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Central Missouri Jennies (5-5, 2-0) fell to No. 25 Rockhurst Hawks (9-1, 0-0) by a final score of 3-2 (25-23, 26-28, 22-25, 25-16, 12-15) on Tuesday, Sept. 19, inside the Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg, Mo.  
 
Trailing in the match two sets to one with a 12-10 lead in the fourth, UCM went on a 9-3 run beginning with a kill from redshirt senior Sydney Lierz (18 digs and five kills overall) helping them win the set and force a deciding fifth. In the final set with the score tied at five, Rockhurst took the lead for good with an Ali Olson kill (15 kills overall) claiming their ninth win of the year.
 
Reigning MIAA Setter of the Week Olivia Olson was one kill shy of a triple-double as she recorded a match-high 59 assists, 15 digs, a career-high nine kills and three blocks on the night. Middle blocker Grace Southern had a career-high 17 kills on 37 swings (.405 attack percentage) adding seven blocks and a career-high five digs, while freshman Elinor Engel contributed a career-high 16 kills and five blocks.
 
Outside hitter Kersti Nix had 14 kills, five digs and two blocks, plus, sophomore Rachel Ziesman recorded nine kills and a career-high six blocks respectively. Defensively, five Jens had double-digit digs including redshirt sophomore Grace Winkelmann (team-high 18 digs, five assists and a career-high three aces), defensive specialist Jackie Storm (14 digs) and junior Arley Anderson (14 digs).
 
Central Missouri returns to the court on Friday, Sept. 22, as they host the Emporia State Hornets with first serve scheduled for 6:00 p.m. from inside the Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg, Mo.
