JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Rachael Molloy captured the MIAA Championship in the hammer throw and
Antonio Lay set two school records in the 100m and 200m dash prelims, highlighting the second day of action for the Central Missouri track & field team at the MIAA Outdoor Championships Saturday, May 6, at Dwight T. Reed Stadium on the Lincoln University campus.
In the team standings through seven scored events, the Jennies sit in second place with 43 points while the Mules are in third place with 34 points. Pittsburg State leads in both the men's and women's team standings with 66.5 points and 64 points.
Throws
- Molloy, a redshirt sophomore from Carrollton, Mo., won her second straight MIAA Outdoor Title in the hammer after launching a provisional throw of 58.63m (192-4) on her first attempt.
Pole Vault
- Madi Wulfekotter placed second in the women's pole vault, clearing a provisional height of 4.01m (13-1.75) on her first attempt.
- The Mules finished 2-3 in the men's pole vault. Jack Hodge cleared a provisional 5.21m (17-1) on his second attempt, placing second, while Reagan Ulrich cleared a provisional 5.11m (16-9.25) on his third attempt for third place.
Jumps
- Claire Luallen was the runner-up in the women's long jump, posting a personal-best and provisional mark of 5.96m (19-6.75). Her mark ranks fifth-best in school history.
- Kayla Goodwin finished just off the podium in the women's long jump, placing fourth with a provisional 5.86m (19-2.75).
- Maggie Klover placed fifth in the women's long jump, jumping a personal-best and provisional 5.84m (19-2). Her mark ties for seventh-best in school history.
Multi-Events
- Claire Luallen finished third in the heptathlon with a personal-best and provisional 5,080 points. Her total is ninth-best in school history.
- Clay Carbajal finished just outside the podium in the decathlon, placing fourth with 6,329 points.
Distance
- Paul Korir placed third in the men's 3,000m steeplechase, running a provisional and personal-best time of 9:06.31. His time ranks seventh-fastest in school history.
Sprints/Hurdles (prelims)
- Antonio Lay broke his own school record and set a new MIAA record in the 100m dash prelims, running 10.07, placing first and qualifying for Sunday's final. He also bested his own school record in the 200m dash prelims, running 20.63, finishing first and moving on to the final on Sunday.
- Cameron Hesker qualified for both the 100m and 200m dash finals after placing seventh in the 100m prelims with a provisional and personal-best time of 10.39 and fourth in the 200m dash prelims with a provisional time of 21.23. His 100m time ranks fourth-fasted in UCM history.
- Jana Shawver advanced to the women's 800m run final after placing third in the prelims with a time of 2:12.68.
- Katie Bean moved on to the women's 800m run final, placing sixth in the prelims with a time of 2:13.92.
- Brian Mitei placed fourth in the men's 800m run to advance to Sunday's final, posting a time of 50.84.
- Claire Luallen finished fifth in the women's 100m hurdles prelims with a provisional and personal-best time of 14.18, advancing to Sunday's final. Her time ranks 10th-fastest in school history.
- Brayden Blackman moved on to the men's 400m hurdles final after placing sixth in the prelims with a provisional and personal-best time of 53.26 – ninth-fastest in school history.
- Brooklynn Holtman tied the 200m dash school record, running a personal-best 24.41, finishing 11th.
The MIAA Outdoor Championships are scheduled to conclude Sunday, May 7, in Jefferson City.
