PUEBLO, Colo. – University of Central Missouri Jennies track & field's
Kayla Goodwin and
Claire Luallen both earned All-American honors in the heptathlon, highlighting the second day of action for Central Missouri at the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships Friday, May 26, at the CSU Pueblo Thunderbowl.
Goodwin, who hails from Hamilton, New Zealand, earned her second-career All-American honor in the heptathlon after finishing seventh with 5,247 points. It was her ninth career overall All-American honor as a Jenny.
A native of Maumelle, Ark., Luallen posted her first heptathlon All-American accolade at UCM, placing eighth with a personal-best tally of 5,141 points. It was her second All-American honor in the Red and Black.
Goodwin compiled top-10 finishes in five of seven events, including a third-place finish in the 100m hurdles (14.26) and a runner-up performance in the javelin (personal-best 40.76m [133-9]).
Luallen tallied top-10 performances in six of seven events, including a fourth-place finish in the long jump (5.82m [19-1.25]) and a fifth place showing in the high jump (1.65m [5-5]). Luallen's personal-best point tally of 5,141 points ranks eighth-best in school history.
UCM track & field is slated to wrap up the NCAA-II Outdoor Championships Saturday, May 27, in Pueblo.
