WARRENSBURG, Mo. – No. 4-ranked and top-seeded Central Missouri Mules baseball fell to the fifth-seeded Augustana Vikings, 4-2, in the NCAA-II Central Regional Friday evening, May 19, at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field.
The Mules (42-14) will face the winner of the No. 4 seed Ouachita Baptist vs. No. 8 seed St. Cloud State Central Regional elimination game in another elimination game Saturday, May 20, at 3:30 p.m. in Warrensburg.
Max Holy went 2-for-2 with an RBI while
Jack Schark,
John Prudhom and
Vance Tobol each tallied doubles, leading UCM at the plate.
Central Missouri right-handed starter
Cole LaLonde (2-2) suffered the setback on the mound after giving up two earned runs on three hits with four strikeouts and four walks in 5 1/3 innings.
Luke Ballweg went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI, pacing the Vikings (44-18) offensively.
Augustana starting pitcher Caleb Saari (6-3) earned the victory on the rubber, allowing one earned run on four hits with five strikeouts and two walks in seven innings while Adam Diedrich posted his 14th save of 2023 after surrendering one earned run on two hits with one strikeout in the ninth inning.
