EDMOND, Okla. – The Central Missouri Jennies (27-14, 11-7) split their doubleheader with No. 4 Central Oklahoma Bronchos (30-5, 12-2) by final scores of 3-2 (9 inn.) and 12-0 (5 inn.) on Saturday, April 8, from Gerry Pinkston Stadium in Edmond.
The Jennies are scheduled to return to the diamond on Friday, April 14, as they continue conference play hosting the Fort Hays State Tigers for a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m. from Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg, Mo.
Game 1: Central Missouri 3, No. 4 Central Oklahoma 2 (9 inn.)
The Jennies struck first with a two-out RBI double from
Abby Allnutt that scored
Makenzie McAtee in the top of the first and extended their lead in the second with an RBI single from
Halle Howes that scored
Jadyn Sheffield making it 2-0 UCM.
Central Oklahoma tied the game in the bottom of the third with a pair of solo homeruns, but extra innings was needed to decide a winner. In the top of the ninth inning with one out,
Abbey Fischer delivered the winning run drawing a bases loaded walk bringing in Sheffield.
Mandy Hansen (2-3) picks up the victory in the circle allowing just four hits in four innings in relief of
Paige Petefish. Petefish allowed just four hits, two runs (two earned runs) and struck out four Bronchos in five innings while Howes led UCM offensively going 3-4 with an RBI.
Game 2: No. 4 Central Oklahoma 12, Central Missouri 0 (5 inn.)
In the doubleheader finale, UCO got on the board in the bottom of the first with a grand slam. The Bronchos added a trio of runs in the third and five more runs in the fourth as
Kaylee Diggs (5-5) suffers the loss in the circle while
Ashlyn Cook and McAtee collected the lone hits for the Jens.
