INDIANAPOLIS -- Central Missouri Jennies basketball checks in at No. 3 in the second NCAA-II Central Regional Rankings released Wednesday, Feb. 22.
UCM is in the Central Region along with the Northern Sun and Great American Conferences. The three conference tournament championship winners receive an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, along with the next five at-large teams for a field of eight.
The Jennies are third with a 20-3 overall and in-region record. Their win against NAIA opponent Evangel from earlier in the season does not count towards NCAA rankings.
Fellow MIAA member Nebraska Kearney is ranked number one, while Minnesota Duluth is second. Minnesota State is fourth, followed by Augustana (S.D.), and MIAA members Missouri Southern, Missouri Western and Pittsburg State, rounding out the top-eight.
Southern Nazarene and Fort Hays State round out the rankings in ninth and 10th, respectively.
The Jennies are scheduled to travel to Rogers State in Claremore, Okla., Feb. 23, and Northeastern State in Tahlequah, Okla., Feb. 25, to wrap up their regular season schedule.
